cant find wires to connect extra lights,did think of connecting to lights on door card but cant find wires coming into car---need help
is there easier way of doing

Can't you just find a suitable live feed and splice it and wire in the light you want? And add a switch for it? Or if you want to be fancy add a variable resistor?

idea is for lights in footwells to come on when door opens

When I had my Grande Punto I wired in LED strips under the footwells. I ran a length of cable from the footwell up the weatherseal round the door and inside the headlining to the interior light unit. There I spliced into the live/earth wires and then connected the LED strips to the cable in the footwells, held in with cable ties.

Got to say I loved the result! Looked sweet but had to keep the carpet clean - hoovered every few days. The footwell lights came on when you press the unlock button on the key fob and went out after a minute or so. Well worth it. I'll dig out a pic in fact

Here's how mine looked. My car was balck so I thought these would look good, also the black GP's had blue trim in them so this went well overall
