Barchetta My 1995 Fiat Barchetta aka Claudia

Introduction

This is my 1995 Fiat Barchetta 1.8L 1747cc L4 designed by Andreas Zapatinas and Alessandro Cavazza with such a good taste and sense of a car's lines.
She's almost 17 years old but still going strong due to some careful owners until now! I am not sure about the previous owners but I do my best to keep it in top shape!
I hope you will enjoy my Claudia! She always puts a smile onto my face :)

Re: last drive until may, or is it?

anybody knows the average amount of fuel still in the fuel tank when the fuel indicator light comes on (it's inexactness is rather famous) !?!
Everytime I am either guessing or pushing my luck to the next refill,,,
thank you ;)

one more try

Issue: Anybody knows the average amount of fuel still in the fuel tank when the fuel indicator light comes on?
I could start stripping down the fuel tank as soon as the fuel sensor indicator light comes on but is easier to check if any of you faced this question before :) so I can save some time!
I guess I will address this in mid summer after the next voyage which sound very promising: engine rebuild of a Wartsila 34DF! That should test my engineering skills!!!

:D thanks for the gentleman manner!
Yes, indeed, 5 liters should be according to the service manual & handbook (have them both) but since this is italianooo :yum: I assumed the indication is most likely incorrect more or less!
You see, I was reading days ago about Bs, can't remember exactly the site or blog, and there was some mentioning about this "inexact fuel level indication" so I thought I should ask here maybe somebody encountered something like this!
Is not life and death anyway
wink.gif
I'll consider this case closed!
B is pulled over now in the garage waiting for some investments starting in late may!
Can't wait!:p
s130, I see you are a UK lad! Great meetings you got there with Bs @ UK Barchetta Owners Club! Wish I could join someday  Next event is on 29th June - 1st July 2012!

I reckon the light comes on long before 5 litres on mine. The most I've ever sqeezed into the tank is 43 litres - normally it's about 40 when the light first comes on. With a 50 litre tank that's loads more than 5 litres left. Of course others' may be different, so I'd not risk it getting too low. I don't want my info to make anyone run out! :bang:

Will

Same here, exactly!;) Around 1/4 of the tank I get the light on!
I guess sometime I will test by filling the tank to full (50ltrs by the handbook) and then taking in consideration the urban mpg I will do the math and see what's left!
In a way is a nice feature, you get warned long before others have wet their pants scared they are going to ran out of fuel cause the light comes on at the limit!:D
We love the italian ingenuity, ish :p

Thank you guys for the brainstorming! Appreciated!

Ok! Just a thought! I uprated my fuel pump and in doing so had to remove the combined casing and float lever. This is a lever that governs the gauge, Now a slight bend in this will give different readings of the tank as when I first put it back the gauge was off and which has now been rectified..

Its quite sensitive to small movements so can see why others may have different results in there gauge.
Here's the video, changing the pump and you can see the lever.

you put some stronger fuel pump?

here is diagram how is from mine, it's just drawing but main point is that it shows long time full tank and then it starts rapidly to fall. as you say it's depend on floating lever and it's arm. i usually refill when fuel light starts to blink. 20l = 27€ (barch is quite thirsty car and loves to drink)

i need to measure... my drink about 10 l/100km (23 MPG) quite a lot. more than me... but that's 1.8 130hp engine, it had to drink to satisfy all horses she have.

comes on under cornering and at about 1/4 tank too.
exactly my case ;) very sensible lever
I get around 11liters/100km urban and exterior, on long trips, around 7liters/100km
I don't mind, anything for Claudia! (y)
Not to mention that I always put the expensive stuff in the tank, always 98+ octane fuel :)
though a friend of mine claims that the Supersprint has a deeper tone with lower octane fuel (e.g. 95)!
Hehe  but that's a dufferent topic

F4ust, Yes i put a high pressure pump and regulator, gives better fuel response and helped with the RR tunning. 146bhp without and 152bhp with.. :D

Need some info

It's tabu info, yes they are from Riviera edition, as we all know!
I know all about parts dealers and ebay, my question was about some good upholster that imitates the originals in leather! As I said in my post, MA CarStyle is producind right now Barchetta seats, here's the site http://www.ma-carstyle.de/index.php?option=com_phocagallery&view=category&id=14:barchetta&Itemid=129 (very good looking seats) BUT the model in question does not apear in their line-up of products for Barchetta! Already sent them an email and awaiting reply for these quilted seats:
