Barchetta My 1995 Fiat Barchetta aka Claudia

Introduction

This is my 1995 Fiat Barchetta 1.8L 1747cc L4 designed by Andreas Zapatinas and Alessandro Cavazza with such a good taste and sense of a car's lines.
She's almost 17 years old but still going strong due to some careful owners until now! I am not sure about the previous owners but I do my best to keep it in top shape!
I hope you will enjoy my Claudia! She always puts a smile onto my face :)

Some engine bay shots

Your heat shield on the exhaust manifold looks like some kind of cloth weave. mine is metal, I m interested to know where the shield on your car came from. I have a new one from Fiat but it still rattles, I think that your shield would not resonate so much.

- and the latest  the wipers stopped working! When I put them on, I can hear the relay going "clanck!" but the wipers don't move...
Have a look at this thread, post 36. I think your problem could be the wiper spindles seized, be careful you don't burn the wiper motor or the relay out. the clicking noise is the relay complaining.

@greyB Thank you! Much much appreciated! A small tip with a huge impact! THANK YOU! Will do so! (y)
@Dave-M The heat shield honestly has zero resonation, at least nothing noticeable!
If you want I can check if there's any code, name, something on it! What I can tell you is that is made out of a very slim foil of aluminium shaped in a weave like pattern indeed! Seams very light! :) Cleaned it today and noticed all these!
Dave, I just read the post about the wipers and is the same! Appreciated!(y)
Thanks guys!

Love this forum

I am where I am (not for long though since I will rejoin the rest of my family in Spain) so if I will close a deal for a good condition hardtop, preferably red of course, the right color (kidding :D) me and the seller should consider some UPS shipment method or something similar!
I hope the scientists made good progress on that "Beam me, Scotty" teleporter :D
otherwise I will pay extra 4sure
Bumble thanks and keep in touch! Already added you to friends list so I can contact you when the time comes! Set period for buying a hardtop is in late april, beginning of may when I come back home from my voyage (I will sail from february to may)
Ohh, almost forgot! :) Curiosity kills me so I ask; what price should I expect for a sh good hardtop, if not precisely then the price range at least, please? thanks in advance
I need to plan my money

That my friend, I do not know. I do know that the original Fiat roof is very heavy and would probably be cost prohibitive to send by courier. I would like to replace my soft top and would like to think the sale of the hard top would cover this. I am open to suggestions from other members as to waht the hard top is worth. It does lack the cosmetic internal catch covers though.

The big boys toys are the most expensive ones,,,Let's create one!

First, I hope you don't turn this thread into an auction area :)

Now, getting back to my project, since there is one honestly :D
I love the B classic, true, but sometimes you stumble upon some cars that simply blows you away! I agree, too bigger rims and you loose comfort and maybe spoil the minimalist level of the car! BUT! :D
I love the next look! I saw it looking through barchettaparts.nl (great site btw) in hardtops section! The hardtop is a Wiesmann so to get to the look it means around 1000 spent already then the rims are debatable; keskin kt4, ronal ls, dotz mugello, etc! Open to ideas here!
Starting with the hardtop, I am already not fixed on Wiesmann! Like I say, almost double the money for just a groove in the middle of the roof,,,But who knows, maybe I stumble upon a bargain!
Here's the image and possible my project/target! The red B image is the one except not sure about the huge rims!
Also like how the rims look on the blue one too!;)
So the basic ideea is , keep it original at the interior, black leather with red
stitching, glossy red paint and rims with a racing feel, bbs, keskin, ats dtm, oz plus all the extras; induction kit, strut, eibach kit, upgraded brakes, samco silicone hoses, etc! Let's see if it becomes true! I'd give one year, so it will not be hasty! (y)
Tell me what you think, I always listen to what people say especially if they have honest ideas! ;)

ps: So everybody understands my motivation; I deeply wish to drive to Nurburgring after the car is ok and prepared to have the "laps of my life"!
I like traveling very much and for sure one day I will join your FF meetings also!

Like the wheels on the blue B. What are they?
I also would like a hard top but it would not be so convenient to drive with the top off. Would also be a pain storing it without damaging it. I do tend to drive with the top down always. My wife thinks I'm mad.:)

@Dave-M

Dave, high chances they are Keskin KT4!
Very beautiful rims, a friend of mine got them now on his Bmw 1989 325i
Here are two shots of my B and the beemer + a shot from today's sunday drive, open top again since the sun is being so kind to give us a little more sunshine! :)
ps: Ronal LS also does the trick nicely in this "bbs like" rim zone at a nice price!
Have also Ronal on my B right now, the LZ model! Deep down I am a huge fan of OZ rims and ATS DTM!

Happy B-day Claudia

Splashing some money on her behalf :D
I know nothing interesting happens in Claudia's thread 4now but plans are being made, money are being counted, priorities are being set so I turn this into a minter! My budget is low right now, just I am taking it easy with her these days! Last investment was some winter tires, Nokian WR D3! Costly tires but very good! I could obviously notice the improved road feel! Tires realy matter!
I have been reading and reading through various members thread these days and got tons of ideas for the future!
-Strut bar, preferably red and why not Sparco
-new induction kit (now has Green Filter Powerflow) gotta decide: BMC, K&N or GREEN again!
-samco silicone hoses, preferably red: don't know the price!
-eibach lowering kit,
-upgrade brakes: Not decided on the brand! Something good and not so pricy!
-paint calipers discretely, if I don't buy some full brake upgrade kit including calipers
-valve cover paint, polish or powder coat,
-variator & valve lifters + some new lightweight pulleys change! Cam-belt already changed last year! A full engine overhaul would be nice, draining and replacing the fluids, washing, cleaning everything!
-Supersprint back box and full exhaust inspection! Middle flexible section change (is a bit gone, already bought and waiting for fitting)
-new rims: undecide between bbs style or dtm style! Examples: Keskin KT4 and ATS DTM
-new summer sport tires
-Also I am interested to see where are the points where the bodywork of the B can be strenghtened! Maybe is me but sometimes I get the sense of some body roll
The list is open and I will start these jobs as soon as I get back from my voyage since I am a sailor!
I am getting the tools ready as you can see! Bought it today 4 my B :)

strange squeaky sound!

especially after a below zero night, when the engine starts, just with the first revolutions (after all the prep work; wait for all the lights to go off, fuel pump to stop delivering, foot on the clutch pedal to completely release engine from the gears) I sometimes get a short squeaky sound, almost like a classic radiator fan belt sound! But just for a brief moment then disappears completely! But only after the car has been sitting in the cold for extended period (during the night)!
Any ideeas  This is just curiosity for the moment, anyway next summer engine is going to be rebuilt to avoid future surprises!
The fact is I have no knowledge what the previous owner have done and didn't do to the car! Previous owner had it one year before selling it to me due to financial issues, his bad luck=my luck :D

Verry simple. It's the starter that doesn't retract quickly enough, so it slips.
I have my barchetta for 1,5 years now and it has it from the beginning.
It is a known issue but doesn't hurt anything.

Looks like you are smashing alot of money in the future to get all these upgrades. looking forward to photo's.

APPRECIATED! (y)
Yes, my B is my first car, bought with my own sweat and tears and since she's almost 17yo my target is to help her get over 20yo in the best shape possible and, why not hold on to her as long as humanly possible!
You can't imagine how fond I am of her
Thanks again for the starter tip! Will look into it!
Honestly just now in 2 minutes time I will leave my flat, jump in the B, start her up and run into the city, and that SOUNDS SOOO GOOD :D

i was worried about that sound when i turn engine. really not nice noise... ksssshhhhhhhhh

Some interior shots (seats upholstery)

Kiry was asking few days ago in his thread about some ideas to enrich his interior with some nicely done seats and inspired me to show the seats I have done for Claudia recently!
They were a bargain!!!(y)
I simply stripped the old textile covers off them and replaced it with new fake quality leather and alcantara all with red stitching!
Not to mention that I found some very good craftsmen and also very cheap!
All this upgrade costed me around 80euros and it looks hundreds of euro :D
Pictures don't do them justice trust me  Anyway on the B I always say, less is more! She's a minimal car! Inmo there's not place on it for Momo stearings, momo shifters, she needs to stay like Maggiora crafted it! Inmo, I repeat! ;)
She's italianooo, eee

PS: In the upholstery section, next I will do stitched the same with red the interior door covers & the OEM gear cover
