Stilo My 1.2 3 door Stilo.

Introduction

It's not much I know, it has been rather unreliable which has prevented me from doing what I want with it. But today I decided to tidy up my engine bay a bit, especially the grotty cylinder head! I felt proud of the results of my labor and thought I'd share it with the rest of you forum go-ers :)

Sorry if I've missed it in the thread, but what is that gear stick gaiter cover?
Love it, looks much better than how it normally looks.
Is it aftermarket or from an Abarth etc?

Yeah the gearshift cover is off the automatic (Selespeed) Stilo. There's a plastic bracket underneath that clips in where the old plastic gaiter ring clipped in, then the surround gets screwed in over the top.

Here's a better picture of it:

Thanks, it looks good! I might see if I can source one - but I'm not sure how it would look on my stilo, since I have the black dashboard and no other silver parts. I guess I could always get one and spray it black, and it would look better than the normal thing.

It's only plastic it shouldn't be much from a breakers, I was going to carbon wrap it along with my digital climate control facia and connect nav+ facia and heater rings. Decided to go ahead with carbon on the heater rings but thinking of something more like a dark chrome or polished aluminium look wrap for the gear surround, climate and cn+, what do you think?

Getting two new strut top mounts and coilovers soon, get that splitter closer to the ground ;)

Shop4parts have a good price for the top suspension mounts. Complete SKF kit for both sides for £52.08. There's a discount code in the "Members Offers" section for a further 10% discount which means they would be about the same price including delivery. I bought a kit for my car recently.

Part number S4P6684 is the same for all Stilos.

The SKF ones look much better quality than the FirstLine ones I originally bought, and they did what they're supposed to do. One of the FL ones was faulty and locked up under spring pressure so I sent them back.

To fit them, you need to remove the spring, so you'll need some good quality long spring compressors. Once the spring, shock absorber and mounting are re-assembled the hole and cut-out in the 2 parts of the mounting has to line up as shown in the diagram below.

After refitting the strut, a 4mm rod (screwdriver) should pass freely through the hole next to the suspension turret and the hole in the top part of the mounting and the cut-out in the bottom part of the mounting. If it doesn't, you'll need to dismantle the strut to line the parts up again.

Dark chrome would look good I think - better than carbon on everything. I think it's easy to overdo the carbon if you put it on too much.

I'll look out for one of those covers, but Stilos are pretty scarce down here in Cornwall, let alone in the scrappy! Oh, and let alone an Abarth!

Thanks again Davren, I think I understand how to do it now

I think it'll give it a more classy feel to the inside with dark chrome :p

If you look on eBay for Abarths breaking and find a Selespeed version just phone the breaker/ individual in possession of the car and ask them about it :)

On another note - anyone know the part numbers for the Schumacher side skirts? I can find the front and rear bumpers no bother on ePER but the skirts are proving to be illusive! I'm a bit fed up with ill-fitting Abarth skirts. If the actually run the full length of the sill as I'm sure they were initially designed to then I'd be happy but they're annoying me now lol

I like the look of this:

Good price for the mileage I think, not had anything under 1k so far! Want to try and get the ecu and wiring loom with it, but we'll see what happens ;)

Right so as you can probably tell I'm planning a Tjet 150 conversion on my Stilo. Suspension/ brake mods will be done during this process or after, depending on how the work flows. Without access to a version of ePER with the new Bravo on it for comparison purposes a lot of my "research" has been guess work so far lol but mechanically speaking everything required (engine, gearbox with mounts, driveshafts and hub carriers) can all be swapped over with little or no modification which leaves the electrical side of things, which is a grey area for me.

From what little information I can gather, I've noticed there is no difference (on the outside) in the design of the body computer/ interior fusebox, internally may be different but I believe I can fit it and use my current dashboard wiring loom with it, if not then the looms can be swapped over easily enough. That leaves the electrics in the engine bay to deal with.

I'm not sure how similar the Stilo is to the new Bravo in this area, but if it has a D4 connector and big purple connector coming off the engine loom like on mine then I'm laughing. If not then I'm going to stick the full loom and fusebox etc off the 150 Bravo into my Stilo.

Bottom line is I'm not sure how similar the two cars are electrically so not sure what Stilo electric bits I can keep or what, but what I am confident in is that I can swap everything from a donor 150 Bravo into a Stilo, time and work I don't mind taking on :)

I'm trying to hunt down a 150 Bravo donor car, 150 Tjet Grande Punto is a little different to the Bravo so I'm ruling them out.

If anyone is willing to post up ePER pictures of the new Bravo 150, in particular its interior wiring looms and engine bay looms/ fuse box then I'd be grateful :)

Electrics might be a bit of a pig as in the Bravo the bdy computer and fuse box are up under the glove box, and not on the drivers side, and I think under bonnet fuse setup is slightly different also. (n)

It won't be impossible to sort, but might take some faffing. I'll be watching this with interest :)

Ah is it? I've been sent a few ePER pics from Rich Draper of the engine fusebox and interior fusebox/ body computer and the latter was shown to be in the same spot as the Stilo?

But at least the engine bay fuseboxes are in the same location, I'm assuming the connections underneath are the same - on mine I have a large connection going onto the underside of the fusebox off the engine wiring loom and also the black connection for the D4. If the TJet 150 has the same two connections then maybe I can connect them to my existing fusebox?

Would be much easier to have a full donor Bravo at my disposal but that'll take some time :( sorting my laptop out in the next couple of weeks so as I can get the Bravo eLearn and work out what's different and sort out the electrics easier using that.
