Punto (Mk2/2b) My Punto 5 Door SPORTING TO BE!!

Introduction

hey guys and girls, i never really had the time to make a members motors post (well i did but it didnt work properly!)
Ok heres my punto when i got it 2 years ago
standard2.jpg

i bought it for £500 off my dads mate who said he needed a cheaper car for his son, Its a 1.2 16V engine 5 Speed gearbox wish 55k on the clock wish FSH and new clutch, coilpack and HT leads soo WIN! lol BUT it looks too old aged month later the headgasket goes!
3 days later i get another engine out of a bravo in the scrappy with 34k on the clock :)
Me being 18 i will obviously make it better!
1st thing to do (you ALL will disagree!) Lexarse lights!

now looking like a chav my next move was to remove the wheeltrims and paint them so i did and found a mate of mine that had a set of sporting skirts for sale THE SAME COLOUR!!!!!:slayer: lol

with the outside looking.......different i then tackled the inside so changed the colour of the dials and heater controls (the dash display is now blue, sorry this is an old pic!

Then i fit a sony xplod subwoofer 15'' with 2 300W 6x9's

At this time my mate smashed my gearbox by wheelspinning it and yanking the handbrake!
Luckily his bro just crashed his 8v on the snow last year so he gave me his gearbox lol

then i bought a set of 50mm Eibatch springs and Blisten Shocks! I managed to talk to a mate at the local pub saying his mate has a set of active sport alloys for sale and are powercoated in black for £120 inc good tyres so i bought them and painted the drums black and the calipers yellow lol(y)

Next i put a Air filter on and moved it out of the way of the radiator :D

My oil breather was split anyway so i used some blue pipe and cut a hole into the intake pipe :) this made the car sound very throaty! i like it alot!!!

a month later i decided to tint my lexarse lights and put on a powerflow cat back exhaust system! ive got to say they have made a HUGE improvement on how the car looks and drives!

for some reason ive noticed my car has started to 'Rasp' when i put my foot down after i put this backbox on. but heres a pic of my punto now and my mates Abarth grande lol I have just recently debadged the blue fiat bit and looks very clean

TO DO LIST!
Sporting seats
6 speed box
Sporting centre console
Sporting Spoiler
Looking for a fast road clutch....
detango headlights

hope you like it lol, in my opinion it dosent looked aged anymore!:slayer:
Apart from the obvious extra 2 doors less the Sporting has:

  • 5 cd changer ----------------------------they arent the best
  • Amplifier---------------------------------and?:D-
  • Air con------------------------------------it was an option at pos
  • Different steering wheel------------------they are horrible active sporting is better:)
  • Different clocks----------------------------mr fes can sort that easy
  • CC mirrors (well some don't)--------------wow:D
  • Different gearknob-------------------------active sporting is better than dead cow;)
  • Different centre console-----------------tin of silver paint
  • Different bumper-------------------------10 a penny now :p

Aim for an Abarth bumper. 6 speeds are fun, just get a decent box to begin with. Get a 190mm clutch too, not the 180mm fitted to earlier cars

And don't be hand braking the car!!!

4/10 must try harder:D;)

May i like to add the sporting has a BLACK dashboard! :D but aint no way im changing my needles, clocks and dash!........ i have noticed sporting clocks go up to 8k rpm i think...... mine has no red line so it hits 7k

erm i also like the look of the silver door handle levers But it wont matchmy air vents which are grey!

OOO btw mine is a 16v ELX so it had a subwoofer and amp BUT i blew it listening too loud :p

looking good, (apart from the rear lights :D) my wife cant understand why I always buy things like sportings when she happy with standard, but the little details DO make the difference (y) but some arent so nice, the sporting steering steering wheels go really manky with many unloved miles on them.

Anyway, someone mentioned sportings have cd changer, my w plate never had one, only tape player.

Erm, you say cheaper to insure, guess your mods are :rolleyes: hush hush :D:D

thanks guys! for now i think ima just save up for more stuff, the sporting HGT's come with Cd changers and GPS system but ive never seen a normal sporting with a changer, mine had a tape player but it didnt work.

As for my insurance, i got a VERY cheapquote for it (lower than 1k) on my own name and a crash under it, ive told my insurance all my mods inc the seats and its only raised it by 300 quidish

i find on todays potholed roads a usb of music is preferable to skippping cd's anyway and you carry round less weight
i use mine via the ciggy lighter and tune in the fm band

okay today i working on my mum's mini and noticed it has floor well lights and thought i could do this to my punto.

keeping the white and blue theme i decided to have white roof lights and blue floor lights....
so first thing i did was order some white LED bulbs and put them in

they look alittle yellow on the camera for some reason lool

then what i have done is got a 4 pin relay and run a wire from the top to behind the center console where i have my relay, (sorry i forgot to add pics of me wiring it up and cutting holes.
next was to cut holes for a bulb to fit thru, i managed to find a set of mr2 indicators and smashed the orange filter lens so i can add a different bulb colour, i drilled holes into the side panels of the centre console and melted the plastic clip to hjold the bulbs in,

now it looks abit greeny blue but then i noticed my stereo is white and greeny blue so i left it lol, at night it looks so much better than normal blue :slayer:
