Hey everyone!

New member here! Been lurking on the site for quite some time now, and with my intention to buy a Grande Punto in the near future I thought I best sign myself up!

I'm currently 20 years old, from sunny West Yorkshire! - 'Still a student, with no licence as of yet (I can drive fantastically, don't you worry!) I hope to pass pretty swiftly and buy myself a 1.4 Grande Punto in black preferably (although white or red wouldn't be sniffed at!) and start to make some modifications... I'm thinking a black and red theme.

I've already had a few ideas through reading other gent's motors on this site and I wondered if you guys could just critique what I'm going to set out to do? point out where there might be problems, or where you'd do things differently... if you could !

LINKS IN BOLD by the way, I'm a new member so I can't post URL's properly yet

OK, so, here's my list:

- 1.4 Grande Punto Active Sport (Black).
- 17'' FX1 RED alloy wheels [performancealloys.com/wheel-details.aspx?ID=64]
- Red wing mirrors using vinyl
- De badge the front, and possibly the back (replacing the back with a custom red and black custom punto badge)
- Tint the front, and possibly the back lights slightly (not too much, as it'll be a black car so I don't want them to look too dark!) Also, the backlights may end up being converted to the Punto Evo lights if I can afford it/work out how to do it!
- Stick on this [ebay.co.uk/itm/FIAT-GRANDE-PUNTO-EVO-SIDE-STRIPES-GRAPHICS-STICKERS-x2-/120773816356?pt=UK_CarsParts_Vehicles_CarParts_SM& hash=item1c1eae3024] to the side in red (not applying the 'EVO' bit though, as my car obviously won't be the EVO version) at a 30° angle ish (top right to bottom left when viewed on the photo used on the link, if you get me?)
- Probably end up lowering it 30mm or less, using Eibarch Springs (I heard they're good? - could someone confirm this?)
- Tint the windows. Although, like the head/rearlights I don't want them too dark!
- Some kind of sound system, nothing to rash but a nice powerful Sub wouldn't go a miss.
- LED day lights in the headlights (around the base) [car-mod-shop.co.uk/DRL%20LED%20lights/DRL%20LED%20light%20strips%2048cm]

Thoughts?

Feedback would be greatly appreciated and motivate me to get my brum brum even sooner!

Welcome to the forum, when youve passed your test keep an eye out on the events for the Yorkshire Italia meets, usually every month in york for a carvery on sunday and your very welcome to come along!
you can post links when youve got 5 posts so only another couple until you can show us what you want but plans sound good (y)

I'd say 80% on the rear 3 and do the little quarter panels at the front the same. I personally don't like the Evo lights, but thats me. Maybe have a look at the aftermarket LED ones (go on my members thread to check).

- Stick on this [ebay.co.uk/itm/FIAT-GRANDE-PUNTO-EVO-SIDE-STRIPES-GRAPHICS-STICKERS-x2-/120773816356?pt=UK_CarsParts_Vehicles_CarParts_SM& hash=item1c1eae3024]
to the side in red (not applying the 'EVO' bit though, as my car obviously won't be the EVO version) at a 30° angle ish (top right to bottom left when viewed on the photo used on the link, if you get me?) - Just me personally again, I wouldnt go for this. I think red stripes on black CAN look a bit tacky. Keep it nice and simple and stealthy, but each to their own.

- Probably end up lowering it 30mm or less, using Eibarch Springs (I heard they're good? - could someone confirm this?)
- Eibach are probably the best manufacturers of springs so you can't go wrong. Go for Eibach Pro's.

- LED day lights in the headlights (around the base) [car-mod-shop.co.uk/DRL%20LED%20lights/DRL%20LED%20light%20strips%2048cm] -
Avoid. Look tacky on cars that dont have them originally.

Your very similar to me mate! I'm 17 and yet to pass my test and I'm having my Mum's Black 1.2 Active once I've passed, My plans are getting some White alloys, geting some Ebach springs or some Coillies, some Abarth lights or some Lamin-x over the lights, some tints on the back and a sticker what says "Driven Well? Tell my Mum... She Worries!"

Looking forward to see how we progress! :D

Thanks Puntobooth, and everyone for the prompt feedback. I'll go over your suggestions one by one. :)

I've never really liked seeing back windows on a car being extremely tinted. I think I'll probably go to 60% tinted, so it's still relatively translucent. As for the back lights, yeah i'm still unsure about that. I've seen the EVO lights look awesome on a white Grande Punto - seen here [youtube.com/watch?v=DvJRcU1e6Wk&feature=related] I'll probably end up doing what eimaj has recommended though - Cheap and still cheerful! :)

They're not stripes lol, just a 'PUNTO' vinyl down the sides of the car. Still - you're probably right and I've had my doubts that they might look a little tacky. Still, I can always do that last. And in the worst case scenario I can always just remove them!

Cool. I'll look into them (the Eibach springs) once I've got everything cosmetic/aesthetic done that I want doing, I think that will really finish it off. :)

Yeah, the LED lights can look a little lame on some cars, but I've seen them done well on this forum and in real life so I thought I might give it a shot. Never know, it might work well with the Black style of the car and look pretty sophisticated! Still, worst comes to worst it's only £14 so no harm done really.

Yeah, those angel eyes look fantastic, Bolder! Just done a little research and I think they'd really make the car stand out from the crowd, I'll definately look into them when the time is right.

Taking everything on board I'm gonna try and mock up a quick photoshop illustration today of what I want. - Once again, cheers!

OHHH, and quick question: When it comes to debadging the front, is the round base for the badge unremovable from the grill? Or do I need to buy a whole new grill?

i think its punto_matt or something like that who had a black t-jet that looked evil, and a mate of mine also has a black m-jet with tinted windows/abarth lights and gunmetal alloys it looks very mean and stealthy.

You need to buy a whole new grill(n)

I started off with the 1.4 16v sporting. (y) loved it! soon got bored of the same speed.

Now i have a mjet which is pushing 193bhp and i love it even more :D:D

Decided whilst night shifting last night that I'm going to get a White 1.4 Active Sport instead of black. They're a little bit harder to come by it seems (in comparison to their black counterparts) but I think it'll be worth it in the end, as any mods I make will be that more sweet!

Anywho, the complete list now:

- 1.4 White Active Sport.

- FX1 Red Alloys: http://www.wheelandtyre.co.uk/media/images/categories/7_3.jpg

- Red vinyl wing mirrors, black vinyl roof and black vinyl between the two grill bits.

- Tinted windows, probably 60% ish...although i'll decide the specifics closer to the time. Tinted back pink part of the rear light too.

- Might get a nicer roof spoiler painted in red: http://www.nicedeals.co.uk/product_info.php?products_id=8203

- "PUNTO" stickers down each side in black (with the EVO not applied): http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/FIAT-GRANDE-PUNTO-EVO-SIDE-STRIPES-GRAPHICS-STICKERS-x2-/120773816356?pt=UK_CarsParts_Vehicles_CarParts_SM&hash=item1c1eae3024

- Debadge the front, replace the grill - probably in a dark black to contrast nicely with the white paint. Debadge the back, and replace it with a custom 'red/black punto' badge.

- Angel eyes, probably something like what Bolder pointed out. Done a lil online gandering and they look pretty awesome on lightly coloured GP's.

- Front splitter, in black.

- Eibach springs, 30mm lowered.

- Sweet ass sound system.

-----------------------------------------------------------------------

I'm not the most car savvy gent around, but I'm so excited to get on with it all now. I hope I can eventually contribute to this forum more than just posting soon :) looking forward to meeting up with like-minded folk and donating when I can!
