Hello,
You're top windscreen seal to roof area looks even rustier than the one on mine (Mine has two locations of bubbling rust along the top of the windscreen). Do you have any plans for this? I have applied some tape to this area to get it through the winter road salt.

Re: Wilko1992`s MK1 55SX 1.1 Punto

Same as my first car! Mine was a 75sx but same colour. Had 14" TSW's on it and I thought it was the bomb! Still a nice looking car today. Although if this was my car id have silver alloys and return the lights to factory standard.

Re: Wilko1992`s MK1 55SX 1.1 Punto

wilko1992 i see you said you did the brake lines, did you do the one over the petrol tank?
there was a recall on some mk1 puntos and they replaced these pipes with plastic covered ones ,however the last mk1 i worked on this car had missed the recall and when i pulled the pipe out it disintegrated in my hand, the worst pipe i had ever seen

Re: Wilko1992`s MK1 55SX 1.1 Punto

as i keep failing my driving test (4th time lucky)

she is just sitting there doing nothing so i just seem to modify it every now and agen lol, I am very happy with the way it looks just wish it didn't have as many dents and scratches so might book it into the paint shop after Christmas

Nice looking mk1 you got there!
What do you keep failing on if you dont mind me asking? Also dont modify it too much because when you do get insured with a full licence you might find it quite shocking how much it will be lol

Re: Wilko1992`s MK1 55SX 1.1 Punto

My last test was takeing a corner a bit to fast so he marked it as a serious fault (n) :bang:

If I tell the insurance compay about the mods its nearly £4000.00  with out is only £2260.00 per year

Wow thats a bit unfair, unless the tyres were screeching and smoking, then thats fair enough lol

Yeah modifying isnt only expensive for the parts, the insurance is worse! Just make sure you declare!

Re: Wilko1992`s MK1 55SX 1.1 Punto

please do NOT insure your car without the mods declared. u would be no different to someone who is driving without insurance. its people who dont declare their mods and then crash that make the insurance prices be so high. you may not crash, but its really not worth it and considder that most crashes are from new drivers (normally within the 1st 2 years of driving) do the right thing... if you want the mods, declare them. ;)

Re: Wilko1992`s MK1 55SX 1.1 Punto

The break lines have been replaced all-round, This is where i get a bit confuzed on the whole insurance thing my mum and step dad tell me not to bother telling the insurance company about the mods and same with my Girlfriend as she drives her 1982 classic austin min around with 10" minilight gold alloys inc spacers stright through sports exhaust and 4 spot lights (like black pool illuminations when on) on the front
As i re call the austin mini never came out like this lol

And her dad told me not to bother as his insurance company for his lancia delta HF Turbo 1.6 witch has a bigger turbo and been remapped and tuned exhaust system and non standard alloys

Take the car back to standard or pay the etortionate prices. Otherwise YOU WILL BE UNINSURED. FACT.

Your car makes me miss my first Punto.

Re: Wilko1992`s MK1 55SX 1.1 Punto

Basically, if you don't declare your mods, your insurance is void. If, heaven forbid, you cause an accident, your insurance company will NOT pay out and you will end up owing tens of thousands of pounds and perhaps face jail time in extreme circumstances.

Modified its nearly £4,000, but no mods declared your paying £2260 a year for nothing. I'd rather pay 4k knowing I was covered than pay 2k for absolutely nothing.

My advice is drive it standard for a year or 2 and earn some no claims and search for specialist young driver and modified vehicle insurers such as Adrian Flux. The world of modifying is NOT cheap unfortunatley.

As for the car, my first car was a 1.1 55s in a colour similar to this, makes me miss mine, looks very clean and well looked after.

Re: Wilko1992`s MK1 55SX 1.1 Punto

with me liveing at the sea side i clean and polish it once a month due to the salt air.

I am going to declair the mods just hope i dont crash like my girlfriend did after only been on the road for aprox 3hrs after passing her test ooops! so the mini is in the workshop at the moment, might book mine in there and get the dents sorted and scratches re painted.

Also i have a Hawk alarm and fob central locking kit insted of haveing to put key in the locks to open the car :D

Would like to get the windows tinted been quoted £100 from a local firm is this a good price?

Re: Wilko1992`s MK1 55SX 1.1 Punto

Nice car with really nice wheels.
But your air filter is rather decreasing engine power - the air induction is much shorter than normally.
