Nathans Stilo 1.6.jpg

Stilo Nathyb1989's 1.6 Stilo Dynamic.

Introduction

Well finally I have got my new pride and joy. If it wasn't for this site I wouldn't have come across the car I now own :). The first thing I have done is taken the Ariel off and put my own smaller version on, Nothing special Just a little generic Ariel. I'm not planning on going over the top but doing some pretty cool things as I do want to stand out from the crowd. Here is a couple of pics of my new Stilo. First mods to follow should be vinyl roof wrap and boot wrap, Mesh grills and maybe de-badging if I can find a section on here which will help me get them off without pulling half of the paint work off  Im not a qualified mechanic and this is my very first car so any tips, hints and suggestions are appreciated :slayer: Hope you all enjoy and hope it turns out good :D
How much a year for insurance?
Have to say, nice colour ;) I nearly bought a Stilo before my Panda, albeit a 1.2.

NathyH1990
Well here is the funny thing about me and insurance, 22 years old, passed my test 7 months ago. no convictions, no claims, fresh slate basically. I went on all of the compare websites and they wanted over £3000, went onto tesco car insurance and they wanted £1800. Went for tescos without a shadow of a doubt :D . I know yeah the color is great, Looks good on your panda too ;) . The Stilo is a good car, Im having a couple of teething problems with getting used to the accelerator. you could get an ant to stand on it and it would shoot right up on the revs, but its my third day of driving it and seem to be getting better. Despite all of the problems you hear about Stilo's I would recommend them any day of the week. The amount of heads that turn when I pull up into the Uni car park :D . Im really in two places with what to start with on it. I dont want to over do it if you know what I mean.

By the way, what are the new shape pandas like, I had a friend who had one and from what he was telling me they're pretty quick off the spot? :)

WOW awesome nathan the stilo looks amazing, looks like youve been looking after my ex car bluebell lol was soo sad to see this car go but ive got to say your doing a good job of keeping it looking smart ;) looks ace!!

excellent looking car mate!(y) nice to have another stiloteer on the site! i really like the wheels, de badging easy enough, their only stuck on so just get a small screw driver and lver against a bit of cardbord and they should lift right off without any drama.

:) thanks for the tip, Think I might give it a Try some time soon :) . so your from wawrickshire, Im origionally From Cov ;) looks like theyl be two decent stilo's in the Midlands at least! Your Stilo looks really nice mate, is it the Schumacher? Im at work now dying to get out so I can drive home :) . Think Ill give the de-badging a bash though, The only thing, if you take them off will it leave a horrible sticky mark on the paint work and if so how would I get it off? Thinking maybe a bit of warm water and washing up liquid ;)

i'm originally from cov too? i live in rugby now? do miss the city though :). yes, its a shummey - i call him enzo:D. you may well find some residue left after lifting the badges off, i found that a small thin bit of plastic - a credit card would be good - will scrape all that off, then go over it with some T-Cut and a polish (y) its really easy trust me!

Ahh nice one mate, Im from coundon. Used to go to coundon court, Litterally down the road :). Unless I put it up a wall or it blows up which I will be avoiding at all costs I Shuld still be in my Stilo :). I should deffo be back by the July next year aswell so yeah would be wicked mate, would love to go to some shows :D well have to put a thread up nearer the time looking for everyone in Cov/Midlands area with a Stilo to get a big group together :D. Im liking the idea of that :D. Whats your name by the way mate, Im nathan Barker :)

really nice car :) love the colour too ;)

im glad you have the 1.6, i always thought the smaller engines where not enough power for the bigger stilo , 1.6 should be nice to cruse along the motorway with :)

good luck with the mods , keep us updated!

if im thinking right, you mean the car name badges. If so:

1. get a hairdryer
2. Nylon thread or string if you cant get any
3. Credit card/t cut as mentioned above though this way did not leave any glue for me.

Heat up the badge with the hairdryer and slide the string behind the badge keeping as close to the car as possible to try and remove all of the glue. You may need to move the string in a 'saw' like motion to get it all off. Be sure to keep the heat on but not too much to damage your car.

Worked perfect for me :)

You would be correct in thinking its the name badges :D thats a pretty good idea, Its the most simple things that you dont normally think of that are the most effective :D . I actually think I've got some thin fishing wire or some nylon string floating about somewhere. Might have to convince the other half for permission to use the hairdryer  It actually really makes sense. I'm thinking of leaving the 16V badge on but taking off the Stilo badge and the fiat badge. The fiat one has faded and looks like it come from a really old 128 or something lol. Im at uni then work tomorrow but will more than likely park it up in the garage and give it a bash when I get back :) . I think I will actually do a little step by step guide using your method for other clueless people like me :) Thank you for the heads up :D

Thank you :D the 1.6 is decent to be honest. I had the choice of the 1.6 or the 1.8 as the insurance was practically the same but I decided to go for the 1.6 purely due to the fact that I saw my stilo advertised on here and it looked really well looked after :) (Thanks to Abix ) I had to drive it back from thirsk to Sunderland when I picked it up and it really does have some balls under the bonnet  found that out by driving down the A19 when it was really quiet :D. Once again thank you, will deffo be keeping everyone up to date with the mods. Going to make a clean and smart example of this stilo. :D

:D Well Hello Andy/Gadge ;) . It really is a small world lol. I think it would be wicked if we could make a stand for the Stilo's :) and certainly would be wicked to get my Stilo in a show, Always been to shows but never got to be part of one :D. Should be able to get the Stilo looking tip-top by the time that comes :D. Was going to start the De-badging tonight but absaloutley knackered from Uni and work :). Ill have some time by the end of the week so should be all good :D :D

well this should wet your whistle (so to speak?) this was gaydon earlier this year on the FF stand - yours could be there too , we have a BBQ and drinks and everything......... (y)

Think Ill be looking forward to that :D. That is unless another careless driver decides to hit me whilst he IS ON HIS PHONE :bang: I was sitting at the lights after going to get some shoes with the other half and this person decides to change lanes and not look at the lights, or me for that fact and hit me quite hard. He got out of the car and in his hand was his phone (still on a call with someone). The crack is about the size of a match box and the tailpipe is slightly bent at the end, whereas his toyota avensis looked quite a mess. Going to get a quote tomorrow at an accident repair center up the road from me and then email him the quote. How much do you reckon we could be talking for a price?. Luckily It hasnt touched my bumper half as bad as what his was, Im just annoyed to be honest :( All is good though, will be getting it sorted by tomorrow :D. On a possitive note the pictures look great, would really love to have a get together with likeminded people and have a bevvy and a burger ;). Will be able to get some decent pics on here soon of the work Ill be doing, Just need to wait for pay day :D .

 rough news mate! i only had mine for two weeks before a parcel van hit it? luckily it all worked out in my favour because a had a 3 inch gash in the area where he hit so that got repaired also :), but like u say, its f**king anoying when that happens - all because someone can't drive! so i hope its works out well for you? as for the quote??? well the crack could well be repaired just like my bumper was and maybe a new tailpipe ( is it a performance backbox??) so about £350??
