Introduction

Well finally I have got my new pride and joy. If it wasn't for this site I wouldn't have come across the car I now own :). The first thing I have done is taken the Ariel off and put my own smaller version on, Nothing special Just a little generic Ariel. I'm not planning on going over the top but doing some pretty cool things as I do want to stand out from the crowd. Here is a couple of pics of my new Stilo. First mods to follow should be vinyl roof wrap and boot wrap, Mesh grills and maybe de-badging if I can find a section on here which will help me get them off without pulling half of the paint work off  Im not a qualified mechanic and this is my very first car so any tips, hints and suggestions are appreciated :slayer: Hope you all enjoy and hope it turns out good :D
 rough news mate! i only had mine for two weeks before a parcel van hit it? luckily it all worked out in my favour because a had a 3 inch gash in the area where he hit so that got repaired also :), but like u say, its f**king anoying when that happens - all because someone can't drive! so i hope its works out well for you? as for the quote??? well the crack could well be repaired just like my bumper was and maybe a new tailpipe ( is it a performance backbox??) so about £350??

Got it sorted now :D. Went to the accident repair center up the road from me, they quoted me £150.60 inc VAT. and they said theyd chuck in a free wash and wax so cant complain :D. as for the person paying for it, got them to transfer the money to my bank last night as he lived too far away to go and collect cash. Think Im going to get it booked in for monday when Im not in work or uni. the fella that looked at it wouldnt change the back box as part of the same quote because he reckons that there is no damage and that he could just bend the end back with a pair of pliers. Was considdering buying a performance box and asking them to fit it in the same slot but I havent got the capital at the moment so think Im just going to wait until next month I think, might even get my dads old mig welder and attempt to fit it myself? :)

Back again after an eventful month or so due to non-car related issues :) . Finally managed to get some pennies saved to get myself some half decent ice. I know its not the best gear money can buy but I suppose it will do for now.

So here's what I brought.

Firstly due to the short amount of time I had to put it all in I decided to get the head unit in first to see what it was like. Only after taking the factory unit out I realised that I forgot one crucial piece of plastic, therefore I had to use what was to hand in my car at the time which ended up being the polystyrene and my girlfreinds novel from the glove box.

One blown fuse later and the removal of two redundant wires I got the head unit in but after realising how stupid I actually am I got myself to autopitstop in Coventry to order a double din face plate. After two days of anxiously waiting and hoping my head unit wouldnt fall out whilst turning a corner they gave me a call. (y)

Now that I got the faceplate in I couldn't resist doing the rest. One phone call to my family explaining that I couldn't come to visit as I had some 'important issues' to resolve and I was on the job.

Now here comes the worst part. Finding a place for that very Fcuking annoying power lead.

5 cups of tea, two hours of taking my interior apart and one hour of scratching my head I found the little secret I was looking for. (which you will see below) :)

I had read the threads on FF to go about getting the power wire through to the cabin but I either A: didnt fancy drilling holes in the body. B: couldn't find the rubber grommet on the drivers side.

Therefore I decided to dismantle the glove-box and other plastics in the surrounding area. After this I pulled back some of the insulation and came across a rubber grommet. Before doing this I would advise taking the negative cable off the battery as you will have to dismantle the key switch for the airbag cutoff in order to unscrew the plastic on the side. Also the passenger airbag has yellow cable running on top of the glove-box which is held in place by a plastic clip, Just a word of warning in case you decide to give it a good pull like a friend of mine almost did until I screamed STOP :bang:

One thing I will advise though if anyone decides to use this rubber grommet. Be very F'ing careful with going through with a drill or screwdriver, there is quite a large wiring loom which may end in disaster if you hit it at the wrong angle. To avoid any catastrophic consequences I made a perforation at an angle, to be precise I aimed the screwdriver from the inside gong out in the direction of the oil cap. I then used some electrical tape to attach a bit of old electrical wire on the end of the screwdriver and then re-entered it through the existing hole I had just made. Then (which I'm sure you can gather) I took hold of the old electrical wire and took the screwdriver out, tied the power cable to the old wire and pulled it back through. Success :slayer:

After this the rest was quite a breeze. I had removed yet another screw which was holding the inner plastic foot plate or what ever you want to call it. Then I used a flat head screwdriver to lever it from the clips holding it in place.

I then proceeded to thread the power lead next to the wiring loom which you can see in the picture below :)

a couple of minutes later and I put the wiring clips back together with power lead in place.

I then took the plastic cover off the interior fuse box which I believe is held in place with 3 allan key screws. I then threaded the audio leads from the head unit housing down towards the fuse box and then repeated the previous steps of removing the inner foot plate and placing the wire through just like before  . One thing I did find different was the fact that the bonnet catch release lever was in the way so I couldn't just pull the foot plate completely off so I just carefully held it upwards so that I could get underneath to fit the wire.

I then fed the power lead underneath the rear passenger seats and into the boot.

I then fed the power lead through a hole located on the rear seats middle brace as follows as I wanted my Sub on the other side.

After that it was just a matter of plugging it all in.

I had decided to place the earth wire on a screw holding the plastics that covered the bottom half of the boot. This seemed like an ok place as It will have contact with an unpainted surface of the car and actually have contact with the body.

After that it was all ready to go. Unfortunately my battery on my phone decided to give up on me so I didn't get the most important picture which was the finished product. I will however add it to the end of this when I manage to get a decent picture of it.

Hope you all enjoyed. Will be back soon with something a bit more interesting I have planned.
