Punto (Mk1) Molly II - Punto GT3.

Introduction

Well sure many of you know this car or at least saw it for sale.

Purchased from Alex22 at the weekend to add to my collection. She is standard bar aftermarket discs & pads and a baileys dump valve. Even has an original GT exhaust, think its the first one i ever seen lol.

Whats my plans I hear you ask?
1. Fit correct widemouth front bumper (supplied by Alex with the car)
2. Have wheels refurbed, they look ok but quite a bit of kerbing on the rims
3. Fit some spacers, love the standard wheels but they far to far under the arches
4. Clean and tidy up the engine bay
5. Exterior respray in the original colour, paint is good and there is hardly any dents/dinks but the bonnet and roof in particular look a bit tired.
6. Brand new badges, front and rear

Here is some pictures, all off my phone so not great - I will add more pictures to the thread when i have better ones ;)

Re: Molly II - Punto GT3

Haha that is no suprise with the astras you see them apsolutly everywhere.

I thought mine was rare when i first bought it but now i know there is over 12000 others out there. lol.

No wonder the Punto GT is rare they are very popular same as the HGT's as there is not many more than 500 or 600 out there.

Well the Bertone is rare.... theres something like 0.8 Coupes for every 100 Astras.. :D

But 400 GT's out of all the Puntos... thats quite something,

Re: Molly II - Punto GT3

yeah thats 240 Sorn'd as well as the ones on the road.. I don't think its that hard to get a decent GT though, you just need to keep your eyes open. Can get a really good one for £1500, i paid a bit over the odds for mine but hey, someone had to save it.

End of the day, just like an Uno, you can just get any mk1 punto in good nick and convert from a fubar'd GT bought for pennies.

EDIT: Andy, you know you can pop round whenever you want fella, i'm usually here ;)

Re: Molly II - Punto GT3

no update..

Other than some chav pikey **** **** ******* ******* ****** ** ** **** has punched a hole in the drivers door and broken into Molly. Words cannot describe how angry i am right this second.
Its not too bad as he clearly has broken into many cars in his time this **** as he has been very efficient and done little actual damage. But it has completely ruined my day, my faith in humans, and made me want to move house.

Re: Molly II - Punto GT3

Well i read up a little on the alarm, its actually thatcham cat 1 approved. I have turned the bugger on now, don't ask me why it wasn't on as i don't really have a good excuse. Its on now and i feel a bit better about life this morning.

I did say back on the very first post of the thread that i intended to get some work done at the bodyshop, this is just going to mean that happens sooner rather than later now. I'll get onto my bodywork guy and see how busy he is, might have to leave it til january if he's got work on though :(

Re: Molly II - Punto GT3

Sad to hear the bad news man, Love these cars! someones got a silvery gold GT around the corner from me and every time I see him I offer him more and more money for it but hes not budging! I wanna take it off his hands before he murders it with a Wide Arch kit and stupid alloys.
Meh

Just count your self lucky it wasnt stolen by the nasty gypo Bas***ds.

Keep up the good work

Much Love

Re: Molly II - Punto GT3

Yeah its rare to even see one of these let alone a none chavv'd one. Keep your eyes open, i see loads of these for sale, just don't expect to get a perfect car. Molly is right up there but she ain't perfect, certainly not now she has a hole in the door. I'm considering de-locking it. Would leave the handles, just remove the locks, it has remote locking so no need for them really.

Opinions?

Re: Molly II - Punto GT3

Not sure... I would take it OEM+... abarth skirts, tints and minor engine mods. Keep stock wheels as they're gorgeous ;)

I should think there would be a few GT's lingering about in perfect condition. Ill have an extensive ebay search tonight ;)

Cheers
Tom

Re: Molly II - Punto GT3

Good luck, we need more responsible owners..

I'm not personally a fan of the abarth kit for these, skirts & spoiler were nice but never a fan of the front or rear bumpers.. The longer i own it the more i want to make changes but i'm keen to keep it stock looking. I would get rear tints but not really dark - my van has limo tints and parking is a nightmare in the dark you simply cannot see out of it (although you do get used to it)

Yes there are loads of good GT's out there but with all the bullsh*ters about it can be hard to track them down. Doesn't seem to be many GT owners that are regularly frequent this forum though - get yourself on puntosports if you seriously want one ;)

Re: Molly II - Punto GT3

I know how frustrating it is, dont let it put you off the house as these scum bags will travel anywhere to have go.

Used to live in South London for a good few years, used to have at the time a turbo'd Orion, thieving little #*#* bags used to keep nicking the fuel cap presumably to get a key cut, i dont know how many lock sets and rear quater light glasses I went through. Moved back to Ireland a few years back and vowed never to live in London again.

Lots of modified motors here and here of very little car crime...

Sorry for your trouble!

Re: Molly II - Punto GT3

I've been renting this house for 4 years now and it is a nice house - its just a real shame about the road out the front. Out the back, sat here at my desk, i'm looking out over a large expanse of green which is protected and can never be built on. I have a huge garden too and a drive bige enough for five cars - it has many up sides...
Down sides, people shouting at night-time, there is always broken glass bottles in the road, my house and now my car have been broken into, and general disdain for the scum around me.

I really am quite antisocial really, i just wanna live somewhere without neighbours, old farm house or something like that but can't quite afford that lol

Re: Molly II - Punto GT3

completely understand dude but by from what your sayng the pros far out way the cons, and besides better the devil you know these scum bags exist in all areas no matter how quiet they may seem. Live in the city and theyre everywhere live in country the come out on day trips on the premise of robbing wealthier people.

Get a big f****** dog!!!
