Grande Punto My grey Grande Punto Stripe.

Introduction

Hi guys,

Got this as my first car in April 2010, and been on here for ages just looking at everyone's cars, but now finally decided to make my own MM thread.

So, mods so far:

Ermmmm.....none :(

To do:
  • Bigger alloys (Possibly white)
  • Lowered
  • Custom rear badge (doing that now)
  • MAYBE tints
  • MAYBE Badgeless grill
  • MAYBE vinyl between grills (thoughts?)
  • Hopefully induction kit eventually

And that's it. Looking to improve it without going OTT, looks wise and money wise.

Here are some pics: (Hope I've uploaded them correctly)

Also, does anyone know if 215/40/18 s will fit on my car, without rubbing? Or will I need spacers? Or is it just not happening? And, if so, will they still fit when lowered?

Thanks, and hope you enjoy!
Re: My grey Grande Punto Stripe

hmm you have a nice outer shell to start work on, the mods you are going to do sound good. white wheels is a good idea, word of warning they need a whipe down like every night :( lol but they do look great, id defo black out the rear windows, not to dark tho cos ur cars very dark, and get some speakers in there :) de-badge grill is a must! what size engine is it? and how much is ur insurance if you dont mind me asking

Thanks for the comments :)

It's only a 1.2 8v, but can't complain really. Insurance was 1400 at renewal (my second year)

Re: My grey Grande Punto Stripe

same as mine mate, n mines my first, the only car you can get away from is a van or a 1.0 corsa lol wouldnt bother with anything major engine wise on a 8v gsr makes it sound alot nicer tho. keep us updated with the mods :)

Yeah I know someone who has a van. Also heard that if you get 100% tints in rear 3 windows, you can class your car as a van and get lower insurance. Not sure if that's true or not but sounds logical.

I was looking at getting a GSR, but heard that the guy who makes them has moved away or something? Anyway I would definitely be interested in one if I could get one. I will update when I make any changes :)

Re: My grey Grande Punto Stripe

thats not true unfortunatly for me n all lol maby in a different country idk.

and yeah hes moved away but your best bet is in classifieds or asking around the forum , i was thinking maby painting your calipers in heat resistant paint? its a cheap and nice and easy to do and inproves the look. the paint can be bought from ebay but if you can sorse it locally it will defo be cheaper, try to find heat resistant paint that isnt actully made for calipers and engine bays because as soon as the tin says its for your car they bang another 20 quid on top of paint thats worth 4 quid lol

Yeah I was thinking about painting drums and calipers, but not sure on colour...

Thanks for that, I'll certainly keep an eye out. Yeah, I would certainly prefer a bigger engine, but love my car nonetheless :) I must say I still really like the mk2 sporting, like yours

Re: My grey Grande Punto Stripe

Sooo, I haven't updated this in ageesss, but done a few little things recently which I haven't put on here, and a couple big mods to come soon.

Firstly, my badgeless grill, which has been on the car since last summer:

And my latest purchase:

Unfortunately they only arrived an hour before I left to go back to Uni, so they're gonna have to wait a few weeks :(

Also, considering whether to get them powdercoated white or not. Thoughts?

And also done my indicator bulbs, changed amber ones for chrome ones, but not got any pictures

Think you should defiantly get them done white, it will go with your white stripes and also maybe get some white mirror covers.

Yeah that's what I'm thinking, but they're brand new and look soooo good it would be a shame to change them!

I'm thinking about maybe trying this 'Plastidip' stuff, so I can peel it off if I don't like it...

nice looking car, best colour, unfortunately ive got a red one which is now the most common :( 17" wheels are a nice addition, should of stuck with the original idea of 18" though and lowered it, done it on my mjet and looks the bee's knees. anyway def do the wheels white or maybe colour match to the car.

So, I haven't updated this thread in agggeeessss so thought now would be a good time. Done a lot since last time! Here's a list:

  • Matte Black vinyl between grills
  • 17" 10-spoke fork sporting alloys
  • Cut down front number plate
  • Team HEKO wind deflectors
  • Lowered on JOM coilovers (40mm rear, 45mm front)
