Panda (Classic) My purple Panda - pic heavy.

Introduction

I had this little beaut' delivered this morning :D
Then i took some pics, maybe a few too many :p

The roofs a little bit worn, but not too bad..

Backbox hanging off.. ;)

Floppy gear leaver, guessing thats a spring gone somewhere..

Why would anyone cut a steering wheel? I wanted a new one anyway :p

There used to be an alarm there. :p That must be the reason for this..

She needs a few little bits sorting; the cam belt cover is missing, it needs a new airbox, rocker gasket.. a few small 'missing' parts and a major service, but i'm happy :D

Oh and that steering wheel cover has already gone :yuck:
Thanks, got a couple of plans for her :)

Going to start on the engine when it gets warmer, maybe start sorting the paint out spring time.

Already got oil for an engine flush, can of gunk and a new rocker gasket, a new chunkier steering wheel arrived in the post today from Kevin (Unclespevie) :worship:

Still need to work out where that broken linkage goes, i'll have to make/find a diagram for help

ah-ha, the same steering wheel issue that I have. Short of a cover, what are my options? any ideas?

Could PM leonsdada a few posts above (y) i went for Kevins wheel as ideally that was the one i wanted, i don't think the chunky rubber ones split.

Would you consider a new/used wheel?

Failing that, unless the rest is dry and scratched like mine (probably is) a black faux leather cover (y)

As mine was so dry i tried rubbing in baby oil several times to moisten and it did seem better, but didn't have the effect i wanted.

Looks good! i love the sunroof(y)

Done anymore to it?:)

I have a couple of Cinquecento steering wheels if you want to consider one of them i could donate it at postage cost(y)
Unless you have got a new one already, then i want to see pics:p

Yep, new one is on. :) Not put pics up yet as ideally i would have done a lot more first, but i'll try and get a couple up tomorrow (y)

The paint is taking ages to come up nice, but it'll be worth it in the end. I do have a before and after shot with each wheel on, it's such a difference!

Something i'm considering is Mk3 hubcaps? Or possibly some for another model like a cinq. I don't want to go too modern obviously, but vern's got me wondering what little changes i could do myself. I'm not going down the mod route..

Replica hubcaps: http://www.wheeltrims.eu/wheel-trim...b65dd03f45fd968aebae7829346890&dimensioni=127

Anyone reccomend a style?

I've used them before for the sei, quality easily matches Fiat for a quarter of the price.

I think those wheel trims are spot on (y)

How are you tackling the paintwork?

How are you tackling the paintwork?

I'm using Tcut and a lot of elbow grease, i haven't spent more than a few hours yet and will take a long time.

Not perfect by any means, but this is a start and is only the bonnet:

Old wheel off :yuck:

New one on, much better! (y)

Also the gear gator was all split and not looking too nice, gave it to mum and she patched it for me;

Would have also been a pointless pic, but i had some old mats left from my sei so chucked them in. That's it so far  I'm sure i'll have more soon.

Nice work (y)

Give the Tcut away though :yuck: It is hard work and the chemicals in it are not the best for your paint. Autoglym or Meguires are far easier to use and are better for your paintwork, I'm sure there are other brands that the professionals use that are better still, worth checking the 'car care' section of the forum to see what others are recommending.
Also, if you can get an orbital polisher you will make life so much easier and get even better results, but that bonnet's look pretty good to me!

TCut brought my 750L up a treat. It's ok if used properly :)

Slight update, sadly no pics yet :(

Anyway, down by my dad's place of work there's a guy that used to work for a Fiat dealer.. had a word and he's able to do a couple of things i wouldn't know how to do.

We found this linkage i have previously mentioned and the bracket had completely broken off, it also appears to be welded or corroded to the bolt to attatch it to the gearbox. So we've taken that off and instead of me searching for another he's going to try tacking it back together and then grinding it down so it sits flush (y)

Also to get it through the MOT he's going to weld the backbox back on for now. :)

Turns out it's apparently more solid than i thought (y)
Dragon Man inspired me to make a video, but i deleted it as i think i just sound like a muppet :p we'll see, i'll try and get pics..

No other way around it mate, it's a bit of a weird thing to break off like that. There's only 56k on the clock so someones given it a bit of a hard life/neglect at some point :(

Ah well, once Garry's welded and put it back on i can start doing things at my own pace :)
