Multipla The Toad.

Introduction

So after owning all sorts of stuff from Buicks to Polos I've finally lost the plot and purchased a "bug eye" Multipla. It's a 110 JTD ELX with only 35k miles but it's a bit (err very) rough around the edges. The colour is horrid, actually I've always hated all Multiplas so it was an interesting choice. Anyway I presume you're not after my life story.

For me this is a second car so it's not about performance (obviously), it's about comfort and practicality. We'll see how long that lasts. I am very tempted to slam it, which wouldn't be comfy or practical at all. But it would look sooo right. I think it will eventually end up on airbags, I dont think I could ever go back to creeping over speedbumps after the amount of fun I've had this week.

Anyway, I've not done much to it yet and I've not got much money so it's a work in progress.

Here is a chop I did of the for sale pic to whet your appetite:

So sadly the missus has peed on the bonfire and insists she would rather go for black and not grey. So we've not even started yet and the plans are already out of the window!

Day 1:

Love this car already. Double electric sunroof, really comfy, good on fuel, should have done this ages ago.

Added some stickers and copious amounts of airfresheners (some kid has puked in the back), also added some handcuffs hanging from the rear bumper and hammered the hell out of some of the dents.

Aww yeah, stickers. Now I'm cool.

Which after a bit of cheeky 5-up speedbump action at high speeds lasted around 3 days... :D

Must say I like it much more now that it's broken, much more character.

Then after about 5 days some more parts started showing up

Bosch flatblade wipers (yaaay I can seeeee)

K&N filter (again only because the old one was cack)

So the multipla has new wheels and the suspension is about to go back down. the new owner is talking about doing a remap, clutch and DMF

I'm so glad he's looking after it, she's really got a new lease of life.

he's also got new wings to go on, new bumper and a wickedawesome stereo install.

I'll keep posting pics here when I see them :)

As for MY car, well I've finally started a build thread, but it's on a different forum so those interested will have to go there to see it I'm afraid http://retrorides.proboards.com/index.cgi?board=readersrides&action=display&thread=143115

New to forum

This is not a reply to the Toad but I can't figure out how to start posting (advice appreciated). While I' m on though does anyone know where I can get a wheel arch polypropylene liner o/s front for a Mk 2 Multipla ( repaired frontal damage)

I've looked everywhere

Thanks

PS the Toads Mk 1 actually looks better with the military theme kind of hides the weird extra headlights in the strange bit under the windscreen

Had one exactley the same as that and it was a 1.8 16v too , very spritley and ignore the v6 drivers the 1.8 handles the best and doesnt have the balance belt to worry about.
3 of them cars i had

Cheers JTDman, yeah I'm on the forum. I don't go there a whole lot and tend to keep my head down but it does seem like a nice group. The Alfa is running great and I'm thoroughly enjoying it. It's a great daily driver and although I didn't buy it for speed it can really go if you want it to, especially around corners as you say. Still though if the V6ers wanna race I'll just dig out a different car ;)

Howdy Fiat Fans, long time no Fiat.

Alfa still with me, looking a bit different now, but I thought I'd post in here to let you lovely lot know I am now the slightly embarassed and poor owner of another Multipla.

Not much done to it yet, but I'll probably start a build thread on here in the next few days/weeks/months/years. It's much like the Toad in that it has to be practical (technically I bought it for the missus to replace her £100 Punto), meaning it may not ever be as cool as this one, but I'm enjoying it and knowing me it'll end up quite different from standard. Have an interim teaser pic.

Lowered already. Nice one. I like those alloys. What type and size are they?
Thanks, they're Azev A's in 16" flavour.

Technically speaking - ie. in real life it's slightly further from the ground than it appears in the teaser pic. :D Coilovers have been ordered though and the wait for them so far has only been a month...
