Hey,

I've decided to follow suit and make a Members Motors thread so here goes!

So, it's a Punto 1.2 8v Active Sport Mk2, it's my second car having previously owned a modified Peugeot 106 1.1i Independence. I bought it in October 2010 for £1700 (including the part ex of my 106).

After just a month of having it, a van reversed into me and I had to have a new front end, which looks absolutely fantastic and is a credit to the garage that did the fix!

My budget for this year is £700, although I had to have a new wiper motor (common fault) and exhaust pipe, totalling to £160, and a new wing mirror which I fitted myself, £15. Leaving me with £525 to play with.

So far I've purchased Aluminium style mats and a leather steering wheel cover, and had the rear three windows tinted (dark smoke). I now have £400 left to spend.

Re: Kieron's Punto 1.2 8v Active Sport Mk2 (red)

Debadged the boot today, pleased with the result in a sense that I didn't mark the paintwork and it didn't take as long as I thought it would! However, due to the car being red as expected I'm disapointed with the fading. My plan is to continue t-cutting it over the next few days to see if I get a result, if I don't, I'll consider putting new badges on, any suggestions?

Yeah going to stick at it for a while and keep working on it, hopefully it will then fade in, me Dad's already said it's faded slightly anyway.

I don't fancy colour coding anything purely because I quite like the red & black theme that's currently going on lol. Originally planned to remove the bump strips but that's definitely now out of the question, if I'm having difficulty with fading during debadging, I wouldn't like to risk those!

I'm off work on Saturday so I'm going to have a good go at it then, hopefully with results. Will keep you updated on how it goes. I'm also going to take off the 'Active Sport' badge on the front side panel and work on fading that one in too.

At the moment, I'm considering a subtle Abarth conversion, no side skirts or side stripes would be in my plans though unfortunately.

Update: Wednesday 27th April
So, I've still not done much at all lol. I'm working a lot lately and have been really busy, so I've not been able to have a go at the fading after the debadging, however, I'm starting to notice it less and less and anyone that's noticed it's been debadged has only noticed the fading when I've pointed it out and they've got right up to it, so it's definitely looking promising.

The next step for me is to work on fading it in, and take off the 'Active Sport' badge on the wing.

I'm also considering having the front two windows tinted just to blend them in, as it looks so contrasted with the back (which are done in dark smoke).

Also, what's everyone's opinions on having Blue Xenon's on it? I'm 50/50 as it's a red car

Ah apologies, I'm referring to the bright white ones then, see them on a regular basis, they sorta look blue-ish lol.

24th May

I've ordered two Abarth badges for the wings, the Fiat badges for the keys, and Xenon bulbs. The Abarth badges and the key badges came today. Fitted the key badges, they look 100% better with them on, I know it's really petty lol but I like it

Debadged the Active Sport badge on the wing so I could fit the Abarth badges to the wings, but it was a complete disaster, the paint is really messed up from where the Active Sport badge was! At first I thought it was my poor skills lol, but after consulting a bodyshop, they told me it's because the panel has been resprayed in the past. They said it's not actually done much damage as it's not gone through to metal, and that it would be pointless spending money on respraying it just for that. So, I'm going to work at it with T-Cut and get the best possible result I can, and then hopefully fit the Abarth badges soon.

When the Xenon's arrive I'll fit them, and at the moment I'm looking into MOMO decals for the sides, and a scorpion decal for the bonnet.
