Idea A good Idea (Sorry).

Introduction

My partner bought this Fiat Idea a few months ago as a temporary mode of transport. It's fitted with the mpi 1.3 turbo diesel engine, dates from 2005, and had 48,000m on the clock.
Bought as standard I fitted the alloys and made up the go faster stripe. We've just sold it on to someone who doesn't like alloy wheels or go faster stripes, so last week I had to put it all back to original again before he picked it up :(, each to his own I guess.

Took some pics before it left us..........

i dont think i have ever seen one of these before (until now )

i also love the rear seats

how come it was sold? whats it been replaced with ?

It was bought as a fill in for a few months, we would have kept it longer if we'd sold a Peugeot my partner also owns, but we couldn't get a decent offer on it so the Idea went instead.

We're about to replace it with a classic Panda 4x4, ready for the winter ;).

dosent look to bad for a family car (y)

been tempted to get the misses a panda 100hp, but might look into these now. Do they have many common faults with them!

They're based, mechanically, on the Mk2 Punto so share the same problems. Ours had no faults when we bought it, no faults during our brief ownership, and when I sold it on I put it in for a new mot and it went straight through that. I know three months isn't a gruelling test, but have to say that it drove faultlessly and gave every impression of continuing to do so. I know the guy who bought it from us and have occasional contact with him, so I'm sure I'll hear about it if anything goes wrong.

A Panda 100hp would be more fun to own, but the interior of the Idea is more roomy and versatile. If you do go for one I'd recommend that you find one that's been looked after, a tatty one may be cheaper at first but you could soon make up the difference, and have a miserable time doing it.

Thanks, glad you like it (y). I've not heard anything from the guy who bought it so assume it's been totally reliable.
I do see others about from time to time but they're still not a common sight. When you get a new car you do tend to see alot more of the same about, they've always been there you just don't notice them until you get one. ;)
