Bravo (Classic) Van with a difference!!!.

Introduction

Heres the replacement for my highly abused yet extremely reliable Bravo.... Another Bravo (y) I'm moving up a year here :D Not going to be bitten like the last time, this is going to have a strip down and re-rustproof with a few bits to be thrown in too (copper lines all round are in the plans). Most importantly, this car is going to be converted to a van and painted black with some "toys" installed... More pics soon! :)

my exhuast sytem is abit of mix and match.. haha! i got a john ashleys 4-2-1 manifold and then a sportex back box :p it makes a very nice sound, every time i see you go through that tunnel i makes me jealous nearist tunnel to me is in birmingham town center the queens way but the traffic getting there isnt worth to make the vid (n)

It sounds interesting, worth a vid on its own without the tunnel I'd imagine, I'd like to hear it! Did those parts cost you much? I'll have to go to the port tunnel over my summer holiday :worship:

A lot of the exhaust is a mix and match from Fiats and other manufacturers, the backbox is a combination of a Honda Civic, Bravo 1.2 joining piece and a Subaru joiner for example! :p

i keep meaning to make a vid but the recording sound on black berry is W4nk lol and dont fancy sticking my dads cam corder next to my exhuast as its worth more then my exhuast hahaha if a flame pops out ide end up being dinner haha! but yeh man keep up the good work on both cars i enjoy reading your threads and learned afair bit from them :p

Its looking really well now that you've the front bumper fitted. I cant wait till you've the paintwork all cleaned up it will look beautiful.

If you're getting alfa sideskirts get the 145 ones, the 146 ones are slightly shorter and would need to be sut slightly. Ive used them but my plastic mudflaps cover the cut part.

But the 145s are a perfect fit.

Cheers neddy! It'll be fully resprayed in installments, one panel at a time. Hope to get that done over the summer :)

As for the side skirts if the 146 skirts are shorter they should be perfect for the car as the Marea front leaves the sides slightly shorter than a normal Bravo ;)

Thank you that information was very useful! (y)

It must be an interesting site for any onlookers!

Famous last words again, so much for getting nothing done!

This arrived in the post
Image0836.jpg

Conveniently I have several boots, including this one
Image0837.jpg

Hats off to the guy that gave it to me (y)

Needed cleaning...
Image0838.jpg

And when measured up...
Image0840.jpg

Clean it again :p
Image0839.jpg

Now trimming... The film that is :D
Image0841.jpg

Better :)
Image0842.jpg

Important to know which side is which. The film is on the glass, plastic film on the outside
Image0843.jpg

Conveniently...
Image0845.jpg

And once again, clean the glass!!!
Image0844.jpg

So this can be seated
Image0846.jpg

And shrinking commences (y)
Image0847.jpg

Keep it shrinking...
Image0848.jpg

Now onto the car. Glass must be... CLEAN!!! :p
Image0849.jpg

Almost ready :)
Image0850.jpg

Now its ready :)
Image08511.jpg

Only to make a horses arse of the finish
Image0852.jpg

Oh well, can't argue with a limo tint though (y)
Image0853.jpg

So todays lesson: these cars are a nightmare to tint. Ive tried on 3 cars and each was a flop. Leave it to a pro (y)

Obviously a tinted window requires a test drive, on a private road.... :yum:

Remember, my wheels gear up my car and that is going uphill (y)

Untill the next update, what to do for it...! :chin:

Update!

Well more of a service ;)

I decided yesterday to do something to pass the time
Image08711.jpg

Needed stripping...
Image08721.jpg

And cutting...
Image0874.jpg

For...
Image0873.jpg

Now I couldnt take any photos because I stuck my hands together  So heres the finished product :)
Image0875.jpg

So onto these...
Image0876.jpg

Decided to wizz on them :p
Image0877.jpg

And left them to dry....

So onto the front arm. Same process as the other one. All going to plan :)
Image0878.jpg

Untill
Image0879.jpg

Yep, did it again  Thankfully I have a "few" spares...

So eventually, out it came :)
Image0880.jpg

Image08811.jpg

Bone dry and the boot split, oh my...

The reason the bolt rang? It wasnt a genuine one. Spot the odd one out...
Image0882.jpg

And the installation went smoothly :)

So while it was on its side, I decided to change the coolant :)
Image0883.jpg

With only the best (y)

Today was the "test" a 110 mile round trip. Decided to take the scenic route. Im on a big hill rather than a mountain. Had to see the recent forest fires for myself (warning big picture)

Image0298.jpg

I'll get cracking on the interior, again, in due time...! :yum:

fair play with the armrest mate (y).i did mine a while back to match my interia.wasnt perfect but was ok for a first try :D

Image443.jpg

Cheers, I cut it a little too short at the back and the glue went everywhere though! Yours looks very well :)

I'm still waiting for a reply of sly si about the centre console he's selling, that has white leather trimmed arm rest :)

If all else fails, look out for an Alfa 147 with leather interior. Some came with an arm rest attached to the seat (y)

cheers, its not bad.the creases let it down but was a pain.I have another sheet left incase i wana get it done professionally :D

wouldnt mind an armrest on the seat.its a shame the armrest isnt bigger/longer on the marea. Its more like an elbow rest lol

Yeah seen a few around, only thing is modifying the rear bench, I have no way of doing that so if anything it would have to be front seat only :/

Your car is looking good by the way Mal, noticed the sub build in the back :p

Don't worry I haven't forgotten about my daily driver :D

Twas havin a gander through the Sei forum and I found a post on spigot rings. More importantly on why you need them. Well remember my gearbox from the first page? Heres the reason it ended up like that...
Image09411.jpg

Yep, no rings  for a miserable £7 it could have saved all that unnecessary catastrophe along with saving my trailing arms and arbs (rear arb and trailing arm need replacing)

Wondering why I'm showing that wheel? I had to replace the set I pillaged off another car here  But I've done it right this time (y)
Image0942.jpg

And with a set of wobblies that solved that :D

Now onto my car :)

If you didn't know, when you fiddle with the stepper motor ie use washers, the car will have very poor idling at startup. Wit high lift cams its almost impossible to keep it running after startup. So I decided enough is enough (y)

First is to whip the trim off...
Image0950.jpg

I had to source another plug. Not an issue :)
Image09511.jpg

You can guess what I'm doing by now ;) A certain wire is not required, so out it came
Image09521.jpg

Now to expose the wires by moving the jacket...
Image09531.jpg

Now some connectors would be nice :)
Image0954.jpg

And some extra wires. Make sure its the same thickness and has a proper contact with this wire
Image0955.jpg

Seal it up!
Image0956.jpg

Then cut it in half :p
Image0958.jpg

Now what about the other halves?
Image0960.jpg

Good to go (y) out with the drill
Image0961.jpg

A big bit I may add... End result
Image0962.jpg

Now why did I bother doing all that work?
Image0964.jpg

If I revert to the old system I can flawlessly :) End result with no cover yet
Image0963.jpg

And a demo video. Just if your wondering, this car is a nightmare to start, the accelerator needs pumping gently otherwise it will not start. This is because of the stepper motor not being attached to the tb and the high lift cams

Keep watching this for more random posts....! ;)
