Grande Punto DlightSwitch's Blue T-Jet.

Introduction

Hi all,

After reading these forums for a while and posting the odd silly question here and there, I'm proud to say I finally own a T-Jet :D:D

Standard for now but I do have plans for it:

Looks

  • Tinted tail lights
  • Tinted/Abarth headlights
  • Black Mirrors
  • Black Alloys
Handling

  • Coilovers (Either JOM or FK AK)

Performance

  • Forge Induction
  • Forge Intercooler
  • Abarth Turbo
  • Some sort of custom exhaust

I'm open to suggestions though, if any of you have any ideas on what else/different to do to my car then feel free to let me know :)

Thanks for looking!
Re: DlightSwitch's Blue T-Jet

Sounds good, but get it dyno'd before any abarth turbo etc. Some T-jets start with a bad amount of power, some are good though. Goodluck and keep us updated, really nice car btw :D

Yeah will do as long as I can find a dyno near me, would be nice to see the actual gains from the performance mods instead of just the total bhp if you get waht I mean. and thanks :D

Try and find a GSR induction kit, probably one of the best modifications for a T-jet. allows much more air flow and they are probably one of the best for the price power modifications. :)

I've heard that there's no/minimal difference between the GSR and Forge induction kits, and I reckoned since a forge one would be easier to find, I'd get that one. Correct me if I'm wrong though

Re: DlightSwitch's Blue T-Jet

Been a while since I posted in here.. But I thought I might as well let everybody know there have been a few updates! (y)

First came the black mirrors, which were an easy fit.. but I do think I'd prefer them in gloss black instead so I might remove them again and get them painted somewhere. Next came some Lamin-X film, and thanks to a hairdryer, a stanley knife and a whole lot of swearing, my tail lights are no longer that horrible pink colour!

Then I bought a GSR induction kit, which I regrettably forgot to take pictures of before I fitted it..

However I did take a picture of the goodies that came in the post after that :D

Forge Intercooler and Abarth VL36 turbo!

Then I got the car lowered on Eibach Sportlines

Excuse how dirty the car is.. There's barely enough sunshine in winter to take pictures, never mind to actually clean the car

Finally, I popped down to Sheffield last weekend to get a custom cat-back exhaust built for the car. :yum:

It's a little on the loud side, (middle box only, no backbox) and the tailpipe may not be to everybody's taste.. but I'm happy with it. I even averaged an extra 3MPG on the motorway on the way back (y)

Re: DlightSwitch's Blue T-Jet

how much was the exhaust if you dont mind me asking mate?

It was £295 for the whole catback system custom built to the car.

I was quoted roughly the same by powerflow, but after seeing some of their shoddy workmanship on other cars I was a bit put off. The guys at ExhaustsUK are great, really helpful & friendly, and they can pretty much build an exhaust with any looks/sound you want.

EDIT got any videos of the exhaust ??

I will get one soon, I've been meaning to take one since I got it done. I've taken videos of the car at stock and with the GSR + Abarth Turbo, so once I get one done of the exhaust I'll compile them together so the difference can be compared :D

Looks sweet mate, except the exhaust ;) your paint looks flawless, mine is wrecked :( would be nice to get it to look yours does, again.

It does look nice when it's cleaned and polished, it's just been too bloody freezing lately to slave over the car with a bottle of autoglym :( I'm sure in a couple of months we'll both be boasting shiny cars again :D

I've been trying machine polish mine over the past few days but its got too bloody cold and I've been at uni, so now I have half a polished car and blue tape still on it hahaha. Still not swirl free though, although it is a thousand times better.

Mine's only been machine polished once, and that was when I had to take it to a bodyshop to get a dent pulled out. (Some jealous c*nt kicked the drivers door)
I don't have the tools nor knowledge of how to machine polish myself, but I should probably get around to it when the sun starts coming out again.
