Grande Punto DlightSwitch's Blue T-Jet.

Introduction

Hi all,

After reading these forums for a while and posting the odd silly question here and there, I'm proud to say I finally own a T-Jet :D:D

Standard for now but I do have plans for it:

Looks

  • Tinted tail lights
  • Tinted/Abarth headlights
  • Black Mirrors
  • Black Alloys
Handling

  • Coilovers (Either JOM or FK AK)

Performance

  • Forge Induction
  • Forge Intercooler
  • Abarth Turbo
  • Some sort of custom exhaust

I'm open to suggestions though, if any of you have any ideas on what else/different to do to my car then feel free to let me know :)

Thanks for looking!
Some lovely pictures there! An update worth waiting for (y) Glad to hear you got the clutch sorted fairly quickly, that would have been bad without it! (n) I thought you would have sprayed your front grille black by now haha although I think the chrome kinda suits it, should think your running out of things to do now, any more plans ahead?

Yes indeed, if it was the slave cylinder then it would have been a gearbox off job :(

I've been using the debadged grille for ages, but I'm a bit sick of it now, I do have plans to paint this one black, just keep forgetting.

There may be a nice plan in the works, but it all depends on what my insurance says, and whether or not a certain company decides to reply to my emails..

Screw that ****** gearbox I hate it!

Just noticed the debadged grille in your sig, I obviously thought it was strange to see a normal grille in its place, I think it's quite smart with the badge although I tinted mine to make it a tad less obvious haha, lets hope insurance say all good things and you get your email back soon! (y)

Yeah if Fiat want to actually do well in the hot hatch market they need to sort drivetrain issues out!

Thanks for being so understanding and playing along with my secrecy :p Hopefully I'll be able to reward you with an update soon enough!

Some really nice pictures there mate, the car looks so sexy ;) haha. You're lucky about the clutch, just wondering where do you fill the clutch fluid from?

Thanks Jack! You're got a DSLR too now start practicing, I'm still learning myself. The clutch and brake fluid is one reservoir, at the top left of the engine bay, or so I'm led to believe.

You would think they would get the simple stuff right wouldn't you haha o wel! I just managed to get my dslr working the other day, need to start learning how to get the best out of it again before the weather gets awful! :)

Yeah, I want to see some cracking shots of your car!

Some pretty sick pictures! Glad to hear you got it all sorted :)

Thanks and me too! (y)

Honestly, This makes me want to sell my 1.2 GP and go for a Multijet. The idea of improving bhp on a diesel turbo has always appealed to me but you running yours on possibly some of my favourite wheels EVER, has made me (specifically) want yours :L This could change my plan to become a Civic driver next year, and go for a MultiJet Punto instead ...

After a remap on a Multi-Jet, theres not ALOT more you can do to improve performance apart from cranking up the boost. Buy a T-Jet and have more fun spending alot more money to get similar BHP and Torque figures ;)
I sold my 1.2 GP to get a T-Jet, and its the best desicion I ever made (y)

If you're waiting a year, then you can buy mine :p I'll probably be selling next year.

To be honest though if you buy a multi jet you may end up spending the same amount of money, just on fixing it. They are definitely a lot more finicky than our T-Jets, aside from having to change my clutch, mine has been 100% reliable!

I almost bought a Caribean Orange M-Jet and decided against it as I wanted something a bit silly before I get too old and need a DERV to cart kids and family about.
Plus, Insurance is about £100 cheaper in a T-Jet for some reason :p

thats odd, it was £100 more for a t-jet.

I would of done the same. but I'm up and down motorways everyday all day :(
I can still have fun though

What sort of milage do you do?
I average about 300 miles a week at 29 - 34mpg. Bloody hills and slow traffic :/

I do about 400-500 miles per week, maybe more. and i get an average of 49.6 according to my 'road trip' app.

and i do play around :) Mines a mixture of motorway or stop and start town driving depending on where I'm going and what time

DlightSwitch how do you rate the Discs from EBC? I'm thinking of investing

Just seen the pics on the previous page...very nice mate! Lucky about the clutch.

Can I ask what you took those pictures with?

Sam

Thanks, I took the pictures with my Nikon D5100, it's what I take all my car photos with when I'm doing shoots and stuff.

This is my sensible car that I drive until I can afford to insure something a bit more nuts :p

Insurance was a whopping £400 more on an M-Jet for me (2 years ago) so it was no contest!

I love the EBC discs, I never get brake fade like I used to with the standard discs, like when you're going round some nice country lanes and constantly swapping between brake/accelerate for the corners. They definitely feel a lot sharper too. I've got nothing to compare them to except standard and I can tell you they're definitely an improvement!
