Punto (Mk1) my mk1 75.

Introduction

i got my Punto about 6 months ago in very good condition, generation '96, clean, no rust, no big dents, well kept engine and all parts.. for the money i gave it was almost too good to be true..

yes it had steel rims, but it had an sporting spoiler in the back, foglights, sporting center console..

and then i found out that it was an sporting.. once in a lifetime.. but it had been crashed by some of the former owners, so it's still an sporting, just from the windshield to the back.. but i also found out that the front end was repaired pretty good, it keeps a straight line and doesn't pull to the side unexpectedly (as it would if not done properly)..

so then some changes came, since it has yellow seat covers i got an yellow gear stick knob.. also some white side direction indicators and led lights for the back registration plate..

and then the radio that i got with my car, some chinese c**p (Sound Dragon i think) started to give me headaches.. it butcered any cd i put in, not only on bumpy roads, but also on even ones and while standing in place  so i threw it out and put in an Pioneer DEH2200UB, basic one with about everything i need from an car radio.. also, me and my friend made the back panel from plywood and put in 5x7 Hertz oval speakers, also enough for what i need for now..

so, after some time, my wheels started to get on my nerves.. ok, new tires were on them (Bridgestone B330 EVO) but size 155/80-13 (n) i thought of getting bigger steel rims and bigger tires but then a good offer came my way.. 25€ for 4 pieces of original alfa rims (i think from the 33 model),with tires (2 good,2 dead :D)

so now it looks like this

also, i have an laguna lip, black front direction indicators, momo steering wheel head and abarth driver bucket seat waiting to be mounted, and a lot of plans but almost no money, so this one is going to be a loooong project.. so stay tuned :D

p.s. i'm not too good in english and i probably butchered it but i hope you'll still understand :)
It's nice to see your car is still going strong. The headlights look amazing. You've done a good job on them, how did you do them? :p

The Renault and Fiat meet looks quite nice as well, some well modified cars there. :D

i didn't do the headlights, i bought them :D you can find them on ebay, angel eyes headlights, chrome or black background.. the stoplights are just sprayed over with transparent black.. i had an opportunity to buy an Lancia Y 1.1T (which i would use for the engine swap) but i didn't have the money, so still rollin' with 75hp..

and as for the skeptics about my suspension, it still works as good as the first day, and even better since paired up with set of bridgestone potenzas (finally got rid of those crappy old tires, so no more fwd drifting for me :D ), the car handles brilliantly.. :)

some more work has been done :

-stoplights properly tinted, although the right one is in bad shape and will be replaced soon :|

-also managed to fix the headlights ; both lights (short and long) have been working together, the short ones working and the long ones gently stirring.. it seems that someone has been messing around with wires or relays, anyway it is fixed now (have to take some night pics)

-finally the second lifter has been mounted

got myself a set of these

and planning to make them look like these

ofcourse, this will take some time, since they have to get from s**tty white to polished with black holes.. and also, i'm missing all 4 caps and they're not the easiest thing to find out there.. the rubber should be 165/50-15..

also i'm thinking of getting coilovers so i can adjust the suspension myself..

and i need to buy a new battery, spark plugs, sanitize the rust that has started to attack my floors..

so many ideas, so little cash.. atleast for now.. :D

what?? when?? why?? :(

Sold my Punto 75 a few months back, but I am looking for another again. Getting harder to pick up a really good example over here in the UK it seems.

The new alloys look amazing, you'll be kept busy polishing those! Just make sure you seal them nicely when they are done or they'll get filthy in no time.

Keep us posted on your progress as I would love to see more updates (y)

just bumping in to put in some new pics. as for the news, have some bad ones;

first the Zenders had to go =( it's sad what financial crisis doet to a man and his set of wheels  had to sell them to get the new battery (the old one was dying) and new alternetor, the old one simply died (n)

the next investments will be the main belt, spark plugs, and regular service stuff like oil etc.. also, new set of springs & shocks is planned, if anyone has any suggestions they're welcome (for now i'm thinking vogtland set or bilstein shocks and eibach springs).. or maybe a set of coilovers (but the only ones my budget will allow are TA Technix or Raceland)..

some cosmetic details are on the way, pics when they get here, as for now here are a few regular ones

some new details added :

-first,the wheel center ring (now it's a full OMP Corsica replica)

-also, my abarth valve caps came..

-..and so did the seatbelt pads

and of course, the owner has to have some of that abarth touch :D

@SamuraiDragon - perhaps because this one hasn't been modified too much yet? :)

@JustAndy - search eBay, got mine for 15$, with delivery to Croatia from Hong Kong, so it'll probably die in few weeks time.. :D although I hope not, it actually looks quite good..
