Punto (Mk2/2b) Time for a new project - MK2 Punto

Introduction

Recently (June) bought myself my first car and like most of you, it's my new baby. At first I didn't really feel like doing much to her as I know it's hard to sell on once you start with mods but after finding this forum, I'm feeling left out lol.

Here's some pics of a basically standard MK2 Punto:

Modifications:
Blue Valve Caps :p
New headunit JVC KD-AVX2 and faceplate

Definite Modifications:
16" Alloys
Lower 40-50mm
Tint all 3 rear windows
Focus induction kit
Replace side indicators (fried eggs)
Debadge rear and possibly sides
Pedal replacements
Front and rear bumpers replaced and colour coded
Front badge replaced (I like it but it's cracked)

Possible Modifications:
Colour coded handles and mirrors
Change mirrors (M3?)
Other stuff I can't really think of.

As you can see, there's really not much done to it yet but money is building up and will start soon. :)

Any advice you guys can give me would be great and I look forward to seeing my car change over the coming weeks.:D
Fair plans there, head unit looks a little out of place to me, maybe a custom surround to blend it in some?

Suggestions...

mk2/b tail lights? £30-£60, smartens it up a treat.
De-tango lights, cheap and effective again.
£6 for a can of tint spray for the side repeaters.

Sporting or Abarth sideskirts. Little more pricey esp if you need to paint them but after colour coding the bumbers, the car will cry out for them. Other than that, you picked up a smart and tidy car.

Cheers for the advice man. Nice motor you got there yourself. :)

Was always thinking of waiting to colour code the bumpers until after I replaced them with a sporting/abarth set.

De-tango lights? Heard the term but don't really understand lol.

As for the head-unit, it's in as far back as it will go unfortunately. There are so many different connections back there that it won't slide any further back. The dip in the dash is annoying too, looks like there would be much more room without it. :(

Regarding the tint spray for the side repeaters, would I need to replace the bulbs too? To make them stay orange I mean.

Yes some head units are like that. The one in the new car I got is like that.
De-tango lights means to remove the orange plastic from within the light and use a chrome bulb that flshes orange! Orange in lights doesn't bother me personally.

That Blue looks nice with a blue and white theme! Like mine! :D
I'm just doing simple mods so far. About to lower 30mm.
White alloys are nice though! (y)

Nah the lights don't bother me really. May change the rear lights to MK2B lights, if anyone can tell me what the differences are lol.

Definitely considering white alloys. Seen a lot of them about recently and they look pretty tidy. :)

Successfully de-badged the rear yesterday. Looks a lot nicer. Lovely and smooth. :)

Edit - If I de-badge the front and want to attach another badge straight away, is it as simple as heating the glue, picking it off and using adhesive for the new one?

I would definately get the handles and mirrors colour codes.
It gives the car just that little extra.
I wouldn't get the M3-mirros though, it just doesn't look right on a Punto.
But that's only my opinion ofcourse.

Correct me if i'm wrong, but the badge on the front has pins as far as i know.
So removing isn't as easy as the rear.
A new front badge already has adhesive on it, so that won't be a problem.
If the old one is off, then the new one will be a straight fit.

Anyway...nice car, treat her with respect.(y)

Yeah the bonnet badge is held in with a pin, you need to pop your bonnet open and get a socket to it. Dont forget to give it a good clean before putting a new badge on.

I got the black Fiat badge off ebay (£10) it didnt fit flush so used some sticky pads to hold it on.

White wheels looks amazing on a blue car, makes me wish my car was blue.

And the mk2/b lights are exactly the same, except for the indicators which are chrome/silver on the mk2/b whereas they're orange on the mk2.

What colour code/colour is ur car?
my is same colour just wondering what its classed as

Cheers man, it's my first car and it seems like I'm on to a winner. :)
Definitely smooth-siding this week and will colour-code the mirrors and handles when I can get the paint mixed.
Thanks for the advice about the badge just need to find a good replacement.

Haha I know. I want something a little bit noticeable so I'm saving the money for something nice.
I always wondered what the differences were, now I know not to worry about searching for them.

Teseo blue it's called.
Can't remember the code but it's on the underside of your bonnet. The colour has been discontinued though so you can't buy it

Cheers man. It's always nice to know what colour it is, esp if you can't find the code yourself haha.
