87 Panda Sisley

I thought I had already posted this but can't find it so here goes.

Found this one in a field were it had been sitting for 4 years. A one owner from new local car with 33K from new. Some nice original features are on the car. Roof rack, bullbar, sump protector, radio..

I hope to restore this one to as close to as new and original condition as possible. Much like I did with Juppy.

Re: 87 Panda Sisley

Hi Stuart

Just read you site and saw that you have bought a set of Sisley seatbelts, thought I would let you know that as your Sisley is one of the original 500 limited edition ones it should have ordinary belts, only the later Sisleys, which were not a limited edition have the Sisley belts and other things like the special dash and intruction plate.

Good luck with the restoration, I will follow with interest.

Re: 87 Panda Sisley

Thanks for the info. I just liked the idea of them, something a little different. It will be a while before I get round to restoring the car so I may never fit them. Time will tell.

Re: 87 Panda Sisley

Evening guys, blast from the past here again.

10 years ago I started this thread then sold the car to a mate as he was looking something to restore.

Well he got the body finished and painted and thats as far as he went and the little Sis has been parked up in his garage since. He asked me last week if I would paint his Alfa 75 and if Id do it he would pay me with the Panda, so yup after 10 years I own the little Sisley again and this time I am going to finish it.

Re: 87 Panda Sisley

Just a little update. I had a chance today to go through all the stuff thats in the car and almost everything is there. I say almost but some important bits aren't.

All the badges are missing and so are the sisley centre caps for the wheels, oh and door locks. I'm guessing after such a long time these bits are going to be hard to find, well at a reasonable price. There is a guy in Italy on Ebay selling pretty much what I need but prices seem to be on the high side and his postage costs are
I remember buying all these bits when I got the car but my mate can't find them, (it was ten years ago) so the search begins again.

The drivers seat is the only part of the interior that has a small rip in it so I'll try to source material to fix that (see other thread).

On the plus side the original roof rack is all there and so is the bullbar and the sump guard.

The plan is to bring the car back to as close to as new as I can, just like I did with the MK1 Panda.

Wow, a blast from the past indeed Stu. But good to see you back, and if there's anyone on here with the skills to restore the Sisley, it's you. All the best with the project!

Cheers,

Plug

Ah Plug my old mate how are you. I was getting worried all the old school had moved on. Yes a blast indeed but you can take the man out of the Panda but not the Panda out of the man. What have you been up to?

Re: 87 Panda Sisley

Not too bad thanks Stu, plodding along as you do. I still stick my nose in here now and again although I've been Pandaless for a while now . After the green Parade we bought a 100HP which we ran for about 5 years, that went to be replaced by a Chrysler/Lancia Ypsilon TwinAir - sort of a Panda, underneath at least. That went a couple of years ago to be replaced by - a Mini. I'm a bit of a crock these days and it's easier for me to drive an automatic, and this one fitted the bill. But, it's a Cooper S so around 190 BHP - enough to put a grin on my face in a little car. And the Mrs. likes it, so no complaints really. I actually almost bought the Parade back as it was for sale around that time, but it hadn't been looked after and I had to put my sensible hat on.

Hope you're keeping well and I look forward to seeing how the Sisley goes! Getting rarer and rarer now, so well done for bringing another one back from the edge.

Cheers,

Plug

Re: 87 Panda Sisley

I didn't want the head cloth to get damaged

https://www.fiatforum.com/attachment...1&d=1596298902

so I thought the best way to sort it was to clean it and put it back in the car out of the way. It came up like new and has no damage at all.

https://www.fiatforum.com/attachment...1&d=1596298978

I have the interior all out so I got a good look at the carpet. Boy it's grubby.

https://www.fiatforum.com/attachment...1&d=1596299159

I hope I can bring it back and tested the steamer on it to see how good its going to come up. Its going to be a long slow process by the look of it.

https://www.fiatforum.com/attachment...1&d=1596299159

I've discovered to that the inside of the drivers door is going to have to be repainted as over time the paint has bloomed. I hope its the only bit that has as I really don't want to have to paint the car again.

Sorry I'm getting so like you my friend, arthritis is really starting to get hold and a few mental health issues the last few years pretty much dropped me out of things. The Sisley is definitely going to be my last hurrah with Pandas hence the reason why I would really like to get this one spot on if I can.

The Ypsilon is a lovely car, very posh to. thought about one myself a while back.
