Punto (Mk2/2b) My first car!

Just a quick one on the battery aswell... I had the same problem with the cold weather... Battery was nackered... just gave it a full charge from the mains and it starts no problem now... Again though the problem with stereos can be quick battery drain unless you have a power cap... but i dont have mine plugged in anymore... stereos not powerful enough i don't think!

Powercaps do more harm than good. Having speakers in a parcel shelf with a sub in the boot will just kill the speakers.
Mid and treble should come from front not rear and sub bass from rear.
That looks like you have some good fabrication skills but, before you next do an install come over to the ICE section for some info on how to do it properly

It was initially my (mums) own fault for the power drain (boot left open for two days!) but the battery has been fully charged since, it is now sparking even though it isnt fully connected...which, so im told means theres a secondary drainage somewhere?? Im not an expert but it doesnt sound good wen ive only had the car for about a week and a half!

I only have the simplest of sound systems which consists of a blaupunkt Cd player and all the standard speakers, no amps, subs or any other fancy stuff!! So am pretty sure it cant be the sound system causing the problem. Will just have to wait and see how long she holds her charge for :worship::worship:

do you live the face plate on the headunit after you have finnished driveing?

Nope it comes off and goes into my bag!

pople sometimes leave it on and dont relise that it will stay on all the time on a punto coz the original head unit is cam bus controlled and the new one isnt

thats an often cause for battery drain

What do you mean sparking. If you touch anything metal on the + Side it will spark and that is good.
I believe the boot light has a time delay so will go off after about 20mins. If im wrong then that would be your problem.
If not you need to get the HU wired to the ignition as even with the Fascia off it will have a small current draw that will drain a weak battery in a couple of days.

thats fair enough, everyone to there own opinion, but ive had a few component sets, alpine type r's and even vibe, but when i got these inphase components the sound is so crystal clear to me.

as for the sound deadening, havent actually brought that yet but have money for it was gonna buy it next week because car is in the body shop now, but if that group buy is any good and its actually decent sheets, i might be intrested as i just need enuff to cover, boot, under rear seats and rear arches, front door cards and front foot welds.

if i can get a deal that would be granndd cud u link me?

btw.. wen i got my punto the battery died straight away, i popped to halfords but a new earth strap lol and a new battery ive had no problems since.

i take it you know what the point of sound deadening is. It adds mass and the stuff in the group buy is 2ice as thick as the normal stuff. Each sheet it is 1m2 and weighs 8kg. It absolutely smashes anythning else out of the water. Its £27 a sheet and fiver postage per 3 sheets. I only push it so much because i use it myself, i give direct contact to the seller and make no profit whatsoever myself. I just want the best for our members here and where i can help i will.

Think shes all better, running perfectly and starting up no problem...will see how long that lasts :worship:!!

Ahhh what can i say was pretty impressed with myself tho! To be fair it wasnt all that complicated...there were only what...6-7 buttons so there could only be so many combinations! If anybody els needs there stereo unlocking...

Nobody would guess its the "SPORTING" version !!!!!!!!!!!
