I`m still looking for an 8v 1.4 lump for my Uno, then that 1108 can go in my 750 Panda!I recon more will be built as 1.4 engines start getting more easily available.....:slayer::slayer::slayer::slayer::slayer:

1.4s are easily available now. My 1.4 16v is 7 years old. They cost about £300 from scrap yards and are most commonly found in Stilos at the moment. This is not the reason people aren't doing the conversion.

really cool man =] i want to do a engine swap on mine soon but wanna keep it carb as thats what i know =] do you know what fiat carb engines would fit ? with minimum changes ? thanks keep up the good work

All the answers are behind the search button if you spend the time. I can summise for you here though.

Good upgrade carb engines are going to be thin on the ground. With your 1000, you are going to be looking at FIRE engines ideally. The largest capacity carb FIRE they did was the 1108cc in the Uno. I personally would not bother.

Alternatively, you could look at the SOHC range of engines and using an Uno gearbox, you could go up to 1581cc on carbs from a Tipo/Tempra or perhaps a more commonly found 1372cc from an Uno 70. I would pay up to a quid for a good one.

However, alexbpl will be selling his 1.2 16v engine shortly and with only 5 or so wires spliced into your loom you would have by far the better option in my opinion.

thank you um i would be interested in that engine at the rite price and as long as it isnt to far to go for it =]

do you have or no where i could get a wirering diagram so i no what goes where ? and i would prefer a 1.4 tbh due to the amount of motorway miles i do to and from shows thanks

You'll have to contact Alex about the engine using that username above. He's in Blackpool. You won't need a wiring diagram for a 1.2. I'm sure Alex will label up the few wires you need and the you can use your Panda manual to find wires or just find them by guessing in the engine bay. Red cable currently going to coil will do for ignition power, for example. We are talking 12v permanent, 12v ignition, earth and fuel pump out via a relay here.

If you are not that happy with electrics, a 1.4 may be too difficult for you. It involves literally ten times the wiring and a very good understanding of the modern injection engine and auto-computer network theory. It also requires a lot of other changes to your car, whereas the 1.2 drops straight in. The 1.2 provides 85BHP, more with a good manifold and no cat. You don't need more for motorway driving! It would already be faster than any non-turbo FIAT on the market.

thank you mate =] big help im gunna see if i can get a currier or something because its 230miles from me =[

Other engines will be available! Look for 1997-1999 Punto Sporting or Punto 85 cars.

yeh i will do i rent a work shop with a mate where we do scrap cars so i hoping in the next few months a good punto comes in haha thanks for your help

Got MOT yesterday. No work required and just £27 handed over. Cheap to keep this one. Emissions were extremely borderline though. 1.027 lambda (1.03 is limit) and CO was 0.20% with 0.20% being the limit! Not sure why as the cat is almost new and a genuine part. I presume it is the remap designed for the tubular manifold and a bit of ECU learning that isn't made in time when I stick the mani-cat on come MOT time.

Winter tyres!

Just had some winter tyres fitted. First time plunge for me. Been running 165/65r13 Michelin Energy on 5" wide Punto steels. These are 155/70r13 Michelin Alpin on 4.5" wide Panda rims (courtesy of unclespevie). It's the smallest winter tyre that Michelin do actually. Wouldn't want a lot larger diameter tyre on. £250 all in from F1 Autocentres. Seemed very competitive to me in comparison to other online prices that don't include fitting and does include faff.

You should be unstoppable on those Lewey. I used the classic Panda through last year's snow on summer tyres and it was great, I used it in preference to my (4WD) Subaru. :)

If we get all that again, I'm not looking forward to trying to get the 100HP moving on those stupid 45 section tyres..

Cheers,

Plug

I had my 100HP in the same colour as yours last winter and it was indeed far too light-footed on it's fat tyres and I just used the classic with summer tyres instead.

I got the tracking done whilst I was there as it was out a bit. I had the toe-in set to a touch more than standard, in keeping with the "standard +" philosophy of the rest of the car!

I see some snow rallies and big grins on the horizon!!

Also sorry for the short notice regarding shakespeare county raceway the other day; I really only just decided to go on the Friday as I owed my dad a birthday present from last year!! He beat me though...14,5s 1/4 mile. Marbella not doing too well with 17.063 :( I only got one run though, so I am sure she's a 16 second car lol!!

Anyway back on topic I might try those michelins, they seem to have a good tread pattern. Quite big though as you say...but higher top speed in the snow!!

No worries about the late invite. 17s is a high time for your car I reckon. It shouldn't be slower than mine all things being equal. I don't think I've got the fastest street Panda for long. I reckon yours could beat it on a good day or of course Alex's Uno Turbo-engined monster.

Haha, yeah Alex has got it soon enough I am sure. We'll be ready to freak out the norms on the strip soon.

I was mostly annoyed that I was only 0,063 seconds off the 16's and on the first and only run of the day! Rain caught us right at the beginning of the day then about 3 cars before I was getting a turn the rain drizzled just enough to call it a day! Booo. Drag racing in the summer is a much better idea lol.

I wonder if they do a winter/snow drag race :slayer: .....
