Punto (Mk2/2b) Out with the old, in with the new (my punto mk2a progress thread).

Introduction

unfortunatly on fri 13th of all days i crashed my car :(
in the wet.
i wasnt speeding but the back end slid out as i was leavin a corner(bend in the road).
tryed controling it but it started snakin.managed to avoid all the oncoming traffick.but hit a parked car with the side of mine wich caterpulted me into the curb witch ripped the tire off the rim and that spun me into a 360 spin wich i managed to controle as the back end was lifting up i stopped it from roling onto the roof.im well gutted
i realy am devistated as id just got it to look how i wanted it.
but it could have been a lot worse. i could have hit the oncoming cars or roled it but i manged to avoid both with quick thinking.
i was unhurt. just realy shook up. (n)

well next on my to do list is the dtms when the base plates come, but gotta get the paints then lol. after that probly get windows tinted. but thinking dark smoke this time rather than limo black as limo black may be to glossy and not look right. il have a see when i come down to the tints tho.

cleaned a few hours before hand and drove it about a bit.

after this pick went home and parked up for 10mins and went to go back out and f***ing birds had vandlised my windscrean. never seen so much bird s**t in my life. was fresh tho it wipers took it off str8 away.
they always seem to target my cars when they've been cleaned

anyways here daylight pic lol.....

Re: Out with the old, in with the new (my punto mk2a progress thread)

right quick question realy on the centre exhaust silencer. what bennefits would i gain/loose if i got this removed and what type of price am i looking at getting it removed?
would it make the car sound better and let the engine flow a little more smoother. not bother about massive differences but i just dont see the point in it being there lol.

Re: Out with the old, in with the new (my punto mk2a progress thread)

The 8v middle pipe doesnt have a silencer so could get one of those and put that on for £40. Dont think it would make a huge difference but with a after market exhaust, it might help the flow...

My 8v has a silencer, all 3 of them!

Re: Out with the old, in with the new (my punto mk2a progress thread)

Mine only had the rear box,
My mates sporting had the middle one but swapped it for the 8v middle pipe (which was silence-less).

Must have been modified before you bought it? I've only just removed my full exhaust, had to saw off between the silencer and back box.

It is a mk2 you have?

Yes, active sport. I had the middle pipe replaced, the one before and after didnt have a silence :S

Both my 1.2 8v's had middle box's. So i was asking about removel prices and advantages if any for removing it. Would it make the exhaust much louder or flow smoother or is it best with it on?

Re: Out with the old, in with the new (my punto mk2a progress thread)

right i have an idea for my dash (the whole dash) and have 2 options......

1. either take the whole dash out and not be able to drive the car a few days till customisation is done. or....
2. take the dash out my old car and work on that dash and still be able to drive the car i wish to use the custom dash in.

Seems simple choice really but the thing is the old car id take the dash out of is a mk2 punto (5door) elx, the car i want it to go in is the exact same (punto mk2 elx but its a 3door. so would this fit or not?
also the 5door one has a passenger air bag on it but the 3door im driving now doesn't so could i wire that airbag up? also would all wires and electrics work fine if i used the 5door dash on my 3door.

please say it will fit. then i can take my time on work on the dash, rather than rushing because i wont have a car to drive.

any help tips and advise is much appreciated.:)

i have posted this somewhere else on the forum just to get more answers fast lol.
