Punto (Mk2/2b) Out with the old, in with the new (my punto mk2a progress thread).

Introduction

unfortunatly on fri 13th of all days i crashed my car :(
in the wet.
i wasnt speeding but the back end slid out as i was leavin a corner(bend in the road).
tryed controling it but it started snakin.managed to avoid all the oncoming traffick.but hit a parked car with the side of mine wich caterpulted me into the curb witch ripped the tire off the rim and that spun me into a 360 spin wich i managed to controle as the back end was lifting up i stopped it from roling onto the roof.im well gutted
i realy am devistated as id just got it to look how i wanted it.
but it could have been a lot worse. i could have hit the oncoming cars or roled it but i manged to avoid both with quick thinking.
i was unhurt. just realy shook up. (n)

Iv read thaut guid on making halo light but i only have basic tools (not got that cutter thing i cant think the name of lol). Anyone got tips on how to remove it? I dont have a heat gun (just hair dryer). PLEASE HELP lol.

not many options if you aint got a dremal or heat gun only thing i can suggest is drill a hole get some kind of cutting tool in there and do it that way but i would just wait till you got the proper tools to do it

Re: Out with the old, in with the new (my punto mk2a progress thread)

anyways thort of a lil idea to try out when i do get round to doing a de-tango. hopefully get today the disc cutter that you use on a dremel and just put it on my drill (better than spending £30 on a dremel just to do 1 job).
but wat im thinking of trying is taking out the tango but going to spray it black(with the tint spray i have left from doing rear lights) and see how that looks.
just to be diffrent.
if looks wierd il just leave the 'tinted' tango out.
what you guys think?

im not to sure if that would be legal if you had orange flashing bulbs in there and it is definitely noticeable through the tint then i reckon you would get away with it

chances of getting pulled for that isn't alot though as its such a different kind of mod lol

yeah getting pulled would be rare i guess but with mot i dont no unless like you say has a visible orange flashing bulb. il ask a mate that does my mots at his garage what he thinks if it'd pass with it. if not il just do what everyone else does and just de-tango and put chrome bulb in.

Just got back home from picking them up. Only payed £30 inc bolts and 4 locking bolts :) BARGIN. in good condition.width looks good enough to fit on without spacers. He doesnt know width as he neva got round to fitting them so never had tyres on them. How do i measure width? Wel at mo they are silver. In that pic look yellowish but they are silver. But yeah may just go black as it may be a payn matching the red lip to my car. Anyone know rough prices to get alloys sprayed?

Re: Out with the old, in with the new (my punto mk2a progress thread)

Good day for my car today. Mate said hel spray them for me. Hes got gray primer so i jus need to get the black paint. He thinks matte wil suit car better than gloss. So gotta spend bout 10r on 2 tins. Also hes given me some dtm mirrors. Jus need spraying (as they are gray) and get the backing plates. Hes also lent me his dremel so i can de-tango.so a good day for getting stuf. So wil hopefully get this all done this week. Just gotta get the paints, prob weds. then when alloys are done just have to wait til i can afford tyres. But gona put it all on the car at same time so looks a bit of a bigger differance than if it was all spread out :)

cheers pal (y) you to.

im other way round at the mo. don't have the money but see parts i want. realy bad this week. iv now de-tangoed the headlights but cant fit them yet as i need the chrome coated bulbs. cant put mirrors on as i have no base plates yet and they need spraying. also alloys need spraying and then need tyres. so i have parts there waiting to go on but just need bits for them to get them on. think the alloys will make the car look a lot different though

Re: Out with the old, in with the new (my punto mk2a progress thread)

well i got the width measured and there 175 wide as i thort they looked (good guess :D ) asian feller at garage told me there 7. never known tyre companys to measure in inches lol.

however got the spray paint today, 2x 500ml of satin matt black. will look better than gloss as gloss will shine too much compared to the rest of the black stuff on the car.
the B piller is matt black, also il spray the mirrors with it to :D

heres pics of what i have........on the left the two tins of grey primer, on the right the two tins of satin matt black paint.

iv been told off a few people two tins is enough (paint).
shop said ill need 6x tins. so thort id just take the two incase they tried rippin me off.
