Punto (Mk2/2b) Out with the old, in with the new (my punto mk2a progress thread).

Introduction

unfortunatly on fri 13th of all days i crashed my car :(
in the wet.
i wasnt speeding but the back end slid out as i was leavin a corner(bend in the road).
tryed controling it but it started snakin.managed to avoid all the oncoming traffick.but hit a parked car with the side of mine wich caterpulted me into the curb witch ripped the tire off the rim and that spun me into a 360 spin wich i managed to controle as the back end was lifting up i stopped it from roling onto the roof.im well gutted
i realy am devistated as id just got it to look how i wanted it.
but it could have been a lot worse. i could have hit the oncoming cars or roled it but i manged to avoid both with quick thinking.
i was unhurt. just realy shook up. (n)

well was hoping to get a quote on the black vinyl today but couldnt find anywhere near me. i know empire tints do em but when they did my window tints on my old punto they started bubbling. so im trying to avoid them lol. maybe im not looking hard enough. anyone got any idea on how much it would cost?

Re: Out with the old, in with the new (my punto mk2a progress thread)

hmmm could do but a mate of mine got himself some black vinyl for his roof of his corser, but its started bubbling, which is probs him not keeping the roof clean and dust free when he put it on. but that kinda put me off doing it myself. i will see anyway lol

I've always wanted to vynl my roof.. but its already black so not much point :')

see how much a body shop would put it on for you?

I can imagine it being about 60quid

do yours in brushed steel then lol. match the silvery gray look of your alloys :)

and yeah most probs lol

tag me in a pic of your car on fb then lol. one where you can see the front end side and fair bit of roof so you get a good angle view

Re: Out with the old, in with the new (my punto mk2a progress thread)

thinking of moving my induction kit to behind the battery. i know it needs cutting but i want opinions before i do it. is it a lot better there than going over the cam cover and to the front just behind the radiator fan. i know it will pick up a lot of cold air where it is now but when the cam cover gets warm its going to make the induction tubing warm isnt it. but when iv looked behind the battery it dont look like any cold air would feed to there.
so where is the best place. where it is now or behind the battery?

Re: Out with the old, in with the new (my punto mk2a progress thread)

Behind the battery. You don't need to cut it. Should fit fine.

If you're worried about not enough cold air then make a DIY air feed

Re: Out with the old, in with the new (my punto mk2a progress thread)

i did try it quick yesterday but was too long. probs just need to stick filter on more and pipe on the elbow pushed in more. but think it was about 2". cant remember lol.

Re: Out with the old, in with the new (my punto mk2a progress thread)

right iv now moved the iduction kit. it looks like it would need cutting as the elbow is half blocked inside by the pipe and the cone is the same. its now behind the battery and i used the pipe off the standerd air box as a small cold air feed :D
got a journey to whitchurch tomorrow so will see if theres any improvements in mpg or even power. iv just ran the engine till mid temp anyways to see if the tube on induction kit gets warm or even my diy cold air feed and both stayed cool. i know things may be different on movement so soon as im in whitchurch tomorrow i will see if anythings warm.
