oh yeah im no good at takeing pictures of cars if you havet guessed :p
looks nice mate, you thinking of lowering?? or is that kinda thing not for you??

cheers, iv been toying with the idea but not sure atm i would love to but its practicalities thats take over :(

Punto is looking good m8. What was your process for De-Tango your headlights? Did you dremel or did you put them in the oven?

dremal

you could oven them but its not worth the risk i dont know of anyone that has done it that way

iv been busy the past few days and this is the result :)

hears how i did it if anyone reads this thread and wants to know, there is also a guide in the guides section too, so thanks to mahol, and this is my rendition

first take the parts out of the car, i prised the vents out with a normal eating knife working around untill it pops out, from there use the kitchen knife to pop the top ring of by prising up, same for the door lock surrounds, the rear ashtray there is an alan key bolt when you take out the ash tray i think its 6mm but i could be wrong then it just pulls out

then wash it all with some soapy water

sand down all the plastic, i started off with rough and worked down with medium and then fine

clean the sanded surface i used what i could find so i used a bit of white sprit to pick up all the oil and grease then cleaned with some water and dried it all, time for primer

i used gray primer suitable for plastic

build up in layers two or 3 will do leave for about 20 minutes between coats

then on to colour

same as primer to be honest build up in layers and leave to dry between coats
i found colour harder then primer dunno why

finally on to the lacquer this is personal preference if you do this, i choose to

just the same be patient spray wait to dry then do another layer, i only did two coats of lacquer. (btw ignore the can i put the wrong one there  )

wait for 24 hours for it to all harden and then i gave it a polish (super resin polish) and wax (colly 467s) and put it back in the car.

my top tips are:
  • be patient really patient
  • keep the can far away and build the layers up gradually don't worry if there are patches missing in the first coat
  • stolen from mahol in the original guide put the cans in some warm water before using and then give them a good shake and spray away
  • dont be tempted to touch it to see if the paint is dry, if you have waited long enough and haven't made the layer really thick it will be ready for the next layer.
  • you will read it everywhere but preparation really is the key to a good finish

if i knew this before i did it i would of got a much better finish

this is just how i did it, by no means is it the best way or the right way just my way :p

and also some shots of the car because i liked the angle dunno why.

and also with my mums A class

I think they are 5, which is limo tint, looks like solid black basically and you can barely see through them.

I'm getting mine done 20 I think, because I thought 5 would make it look like a van. Not sure though, yours looks good.

Cheers

i dont think its quite limo tint some lights you can see in quite easy, it might be though

i dont know if there is an easy way of finding out without a light meter otherwise i would find out for you
