Panda (Classic) Poppi - The Preserved Panda

Introduction

Here is a few pictures of my early, very early birthday present. As you can see, she is immaculate. A full service history, all MOT's and including original bill of sale. Receipts for everything. Current mileage 34,932.

All credit for her condition goes to her former owner James :slayer:

She has been re-christened, with James' agreement as . . . . Poppi.

Hi there Jon, James, and Martin. some new cars I see. Very nice indeed.

Yep Nu Panda is great (not the same as a Classic Panda) but does what it says on the tin and only new wiper blades and a fuse in 2 years . . . And I blew the fuse. Just ticked over 31k now.

The smart is still great and fun as ever to drive.

Poppi is looking stunning and seemingly being pampered by her new owner. Her mark 1 centre caps set her off nicely. She will always be a credit to her guardians, past and of course present. Hope to catch up with you soon and if your in the area, pop in.

Jon. . . PM sent.

Kev, unfortunately the original front covers s had really lost their "shape" and were really starting to fray through - a combination I think of where they had been previously washed and then subsequent wear and tear.

I have had covers over the front seats virtually since you sold her to me, but they have not really halted the decline of the originals, Because the originals had lost their shape and where a little "mobile" underneath, i think they may have even sped up the process :( :(

Not sure if anything had been spilt in the back before - definitely no sign of any stains/dampness etc, but the centre of the base grey foam had disintegrated quite badly when I removed them - got a nice pile of dust

Of the cloth, the front passenger seat cover was probably the best and I have kept that and the door cards and also the front dash roll - although that's not the best. If they are of any use to you, then they are yours for price of the postage.

I have also saved a nice box of seat belt sockets, trim covers, couple of head rests, the recline and tilt handles and all of the aforementioned items fittings.

I made sure to carefully remove and keep the plastic framing/backing/underside for the back seat as I know you said that was a bit of a mystery part. When I am brave I may even attempt a retrofit of that onto the new seats.

Seeing an early mk 2 brings back memories. My dad had a c reg black 1000cl. Long gone sadly... I prefer the way the rubber gaitor doesn't extend all the way up the gearstick. Maybe i'm old fashioned but I think a gearstick should be just that. 4 spd as well is it?

Homeward's 'Betty' is having the exact same seat conversion so if you speak to Stephen Kev he may do a deal with his old seats too! ;)

The same seats are under Chiaro's taxi special velour covers. I can't remember what they are like exactly but I've no problem with the originals going to Kev if anything's of use. Clearly you need to be happy with this though Vernon, as Chiaro's heading your way - oh he's jumped the gun & already found you!! ;)

Yes - 4 forward speeds (y)

Thought I would add these couple of pictures of Poppi sporting her wheel trims and with no stripe as most you lot know we decided to have it done again. Not sure if to have it the same as before or maybe one thick and one thinner stripe.

That really is a beautiful little car - I'm feeling quite jealous !!!!!

Poppi heads west......

Poppi has just started her long journey off to the west country.

She is in very good hands and no doubt her new Family will a be along over the weekend to update you all.

Although I am not going to disappear myself (I do apologise :D ), I would just like to say a big thank you to all of the classic Panda forum members who have helped or commented on Poppi during my tenure.

Farewell old Girl - you'll certainly be missed, but know that you are in good hands.
