Stilo My Stilo Abarth 5 Door

Introduction

Bought my baby as standard back in February 2008... a 2002 5 door Navy Blue Stilo Abarth with cream leather... yummy! :D

but since then, it's had a bit of work done :D

First a wheel refurb...

Followed by another refurb due to the first being cocked up  I fitted the Schumi GP Eibachs springs and Bilstein dampers then as well...

Then I had SchooweeNick's old Custom Chrome Racing exhaust fitted, removing the second cat... (y)

He also sorted me out with a few extra bits and bobs later as well... :slayer:

Namely...

Brembo GranTurismo's

18" OZ SuperTurismo's

Continental ContactSport 2's

Goodridge SS Brake Lines

GSR Induction and a BMC CDA (not shown)

Stebel Nautilus Horn

Al this has left me with this! Plus an obligatory Red-Dot remap as well... obviously :D :slayer:

Subtle mods, very nice. Always been a fan of the stilo - what power figures did you get, any more mods planned?

Cheers. Yeah, I'm a big fan of subtle Q-car styling... not really one for big wings and all that :D

The car is running Selenia 10w60 and is generating 190bhp when it was rolling roaded on a 25 degree day... not sure whether going back to 10w40 would help at all... will definitely help my noisy tappets though :D

As for future mods, the only thing I really want to do now is fit a front and rear strutbrace but it's a bit of a faff with the Selespeed reservoir being right in the way :(

To be honest, I'm more interested in the front strutbrace anyway as it should help with the handling due to the heavy lump up there. Anything that can cure the understeer the 2.4 suffers would be greatfully recieved :D

Once I've got the front fitted, I'll review it all and more than likely get rid of the rear if it feels at all twitchy...

All pics are on photobucket.

They need rehosting on here, as per the sticky - then I will edit them into the above post.

Until then, closed - PM me once uploaded :)

Yellow - I've only just got around to fitting the four rear ones, so I'll be honest, I couldn't really tell you yet until I do some "spirited" country driving :D As soon as I have though, I'll let you know (y)

Danhans - How much did I pay? Erm... nothing :D I was lucky enough to get it from a friend who no longer had a Stilo... it was brand new as well :slayer:

I'm running the BMC CDA attached to the standard MAF housing with the GSR pipe connected to the MAF housing. I don't feel that the standard MAF housing loses anything as the GSR pipe internal diameter is the same as the MAF housing (the GSR pipe was reduced to avoid the lean running on 2.4's) so I'm happy to keep it. I'm going to take it all off again and remove the mesh inside the MAF housing though to aid the airflow. The only thing I'm wondering is whether I should keep the CDA drawing air from the bottom of the engine bay or have a pipe drawing cold air from a vent somewhere...

Col - Thankfully my wife is extremely understanding... plus we don't have a garage, just an underground car park, so we didn't have anywhere to store them :( What I wouldn't give for a proper garage and a car lift  I'm sure she'd be happier as well! :D

Alright for some

Ive opened up the slits a little on the sort of useless vent thats in the lower bumper, and routed the intake round to the CDA. Seems to work quite well so far - havent met any dykes or puddles yet though.

Ive seen on other cars that the MAF can be at its limit. Depending on the tuners knowledge of the ECU they may be able to alter the tables to allow a different MAF to be used and fuelling altered accordingly.

I doubt I will get that far with mine as I have no plants for anything else other than upgraded intake ala GSR or homemade and a remap.

Dan

I think we're both on the same page here... I don't want to go much further, just make the most of what I've got. From talking to Red-Dot, the only real tuning they seem to be able to do is to advance the ignition... I'm not sure if they can alter the air/fuel ratio beyond what's set on the ECU :( Could be totally wrong though, it wouldn't be anything new :D

Are you using the standard metal pipe that comes with the CDA to feed the air directly into the CDA?

I got my CDA 2nd hand off bulldog (with the marea)and it didnt come with any of the metal pipe. I bought some of that neoprene hose with the wire running through it(£12), it made a nice clean curve round the corner to the front.

The slats on the grille already had thin slits in them, I just opened them up with a scalpel.

Seems to work quite well so far.
