Punto (Mk2/2b) My black MK2 :)

Introduction

Thaught id finally get my car in this section :)

mods done so far:

  • Tinted lights
  • New door cards/centre console/handbrake surround (from HGT)
  • Removed rub strips
  • Blue dash lights
  • Rear speakers fitted
  • Seat covers (purely to hide cigarette burns from the people who had it before me)
  • Pillars sprayed black (just to freshen up)

In progress:

  • Spraying some interior parts (cd facia, outer rings on air vents, centre console and handbrake surround and possibly speaker grills)

The blue trim shown on those pictures is temporary, this was a practice on some spare parts.... i managed to get a good finish and it is a nice colour, just not for my car!
have you ever thought of installing LEDs in the door handles??? im currently doing it now to my punto. it looks amazing, especially when u hv a remote central locking. il upload sum pics whn i get it working properly.

basically you either drill a hole and install an LED or you can buy a small strip which has 3 mirco LEDs. im currently in the process of installing them. i have a strip which contains the micro LEDs and they fit perfectly underneath the outside door handle. il take a pic so you can see wht it looks like. i think having a white glow on your black punto would look stylish.

yehh it could look good :) where did you get these strips?

I have to take my door card off anyway to fix my handle linkage so i might as well give it a go at the same time :)

also, have you seen a car with LED's in the bottom of the door? I think its on here, they shine down onto the floor when the door is open, they look pretty good as well!

i purchased mine from ebay. you can get them in red, white, blue or green. heres the link for the ones i got:
http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/WHITE-LED-DOOR-HANDLE-LIGHT-KIT-SET-of-4-incl-SWITCH_W0QQitemZ180428828014QQcmdZViewItemQQptZUK_CarsParts_Vehicles_CarParts_SM?hash=item2a02656d6e

these are good because it comes with individual switches. iv seen the ones you have mentioned underneath the door. i had a look and for me i would have to drill into the metal work and im not to keen on that.

iv taken sum pics and the quality is not great but its ok. the wiring fits through the hole of the door handle so no drilling is requied. i think super glue would be good enough to keep them in place. the colour of my car is light blue and its 4dr.

I do like the look of that myself tbh :) i would want green thought to go with the theme in my car lol. :) and i like the idea of the under door lights sounds good, oh and mike, you know on your central dash, is that a satnav screen you have built into it? by where your AUX in is ?

They do look smart i would wire them to the 2 wires from the interior light using a relay so they came on when the doors were unlocked, i used to have my footwell lights like that :)

The only problem with the under door lights for me is getting the drill underneath as i wouldnt want to take the door off!!

and that screen plays dvd's it has an RCA lead coming from my ead unit which plugs into it... the black panel with the AUX-in is just tinted plastic, i put my sat nav behind it and you could see it perfectly when it was on and couldnt tell it was there when it was off, only problem is, its a touch screen :p haha!!

yeah it plays dvds through it? thats pretty cool, unfortionatly my RCA is pluged up with a sub and amp in my boot so i could not use that. i've just got my HGT central console stuff and i was tempted to put a satnav in there, sony widescreen so it would cover most of it, its a good idea tbh!

ahh cool, you might aswell try get a screen that can cover the whole space? I've just got my HGT interior yesterday in the post... so i'm still deciding what to fill the gap with! oh and you know the Cigarete lighter? how did you get it to reach? my lead seems a tad short to reach... its not like i use it anyway..but it'l bug me ahha! i Also Smoke Tinted my rear lights and side repeaters, didn't do them too much for now but looks good :) ill get picture later :)

because of the size and shape, i dont think it is possible to get a screen to fit the whole space as the picture would either be just in the middle (wasting screen space that isnt getting used) or very elongated

The cigarette lighter, if you cut the wires somewhere in the middle and add an extra wire to each about 7-8 inches, this should give you room to fit it back in in your new centre console

how much did you pay for your interior if you dont mind me asking? and what did you get with it?

Regards
Mike

Ahh, i was thinking about buying one of those headunit DVD/Satav players, where the screen comes out sure it would look good.. just powering it..
All i got what the HGT centre console && handbrake centre cover, since you need both haha. i purchased them off ebay as a pair, scrapped em up for £15 and there in excelent condition, just came with a spare cigarette lighter lol.

yeahh the flip out ones :) , i have my existing head unit in the top space atm like you have. I'm sure i can come up with something to fill one of the spaces hahah! i have the sporting instrument dials too (with rev counter) fitted at the moment, still need my miles being proxy aligned though.

ya'no your plastic pannels, (Between the door windows) did you use plastic primer first?

let me know how much that costs please (the allignment) as i have been playing with the idea

and for the plastic, i did use primer first yes, gray primer then matt black paint

you can take them off and remove the sticky residue and it will be the same as the rest of the body

i've had a couple of quotes from fiat garages..

Heswall(wirral) - Never heard of such thing lol...
Warrington - £60-80
Liverpool - £60 quid

I should get mine done after christmas i thinks.

as for the door plastic... mine are in need of a re-spray ahah! same as the door handles do.. want to get them do very soon if we can get some nice dry rain free weather hahaah

Sorry to interupt but may I ask a question? What does That mean ^^

I ask because I've been playing with the idea of fitting sporting clocks and want to keep the milage correct.. Is that what 'proxy aligned' is? Or am I completely mistaken :bang:

Cheers!! (y)

Yes if you want to keep you milage correct your going to have to get the new clocks 'proxy aligned' by a fiat garage :)

make sure the new clocks has LESS miles than what your car has done, they refuse to put miles DOWN.. only up!

mines been showing wrong millage for about 2months now.. lol.
