Uno The Uno Project!!

Introduction

Hi i thought id put a few pics of my on going Uno project which ive had since end of last year, and tell you a little bit about the car.
The car itself is a 1987 Uno 60s, 1116cc pre fire engine.
It basically it started out a car that was for sale the forum, and my brother who has had a couple of mk1 Uno 45's showed a slight interest.
I spoke to the guy selling it, it was having poor hot starting problems and other issues so i should of just left it that.......
But i was told if i didn't buy the car it would go for scrap, as no one else was interested which seemed a waste.
I decided i had to act an save the poor the car from being cubed  i spoke to my brother who needed no convincing we should save the little Uno!
Sadly it broke down 250 yards from the guys house, came the rest of the 100 and odd mile on a recovery truck ( Rac membership is so handy!! )
To say may neighbours looked horified was a understatement, my dad wasn't overly impressed with the Uno's less than grand entrence!!
Then it sat on my drive looking pretty sorry for itself, while i figured out what the hell id done!

In the cold light of day it was clear to see, it hadn't exactly been cherished for the last few years.
With soil, builders sand, brick dust etc.. covering the interior along with the usual mess of a family wagon lol!! :)
The outside was dirty and the plastics heavely faded, any rust had been painted over with black paint... nice (n)
And the paint obviously hadn't been polished for a long time, as the paint felt like sandpaper!!
The wiring has been heaverly butchered for a stereo, and some of the electrics were bodged to say the least.
Which is something i will have to get a proffesional to look at!!
And ive since had a mobile mechanic look at the car, should only need a new starter motor. So aiming to get that sorted out, then change the oil.
Already replaced the fan switch as that stopped working! found some Uno mk2 wheel trims in the scrap yard that i repainted.
Then i went all out and repainted the wheel rims too, cleaned the interior whch took 2 days!!

Got some new mats as well, and even found a brand new Uno badge on ebay for a £1 to replace the missing one!! :D
Although i want to repaint the tailgate and other bits, and replace a couple of panels etc 1st...
All in good time tho, i just want to get it on the road first and start using it before i start any kind of mild restoration.
I can't wait to see what the Mot brings!! aiming to get the car to Auto Italia at Stanford hall. Bit of a tall order really, but fingers crossed!!
