Uno My baby

Introduction

Finally felt brave enough to post some pics.

Poor thing was orange/pink when I got her last Autumn, but I'm getting there with the 'restoration'.

Should've maybe cleaned the wheels and bumpers properly also, but looks reasonable, I hope :)

ps
Sorry if this is in the wrong place. If a mod wants to move it, feel free.
looks really, really shiny! so i take it you've had it resprayed? and i love that front bumper.. it's actually black, wheras mine is a faded grey colour!
well done for putting some pictures on here, i like to be nosey!

some people who love there red cars can keep them red, i had a 309gti in red which was as shiny the day i sold her as the day i bought her (12 years original paint) still miss that car sometimes, Ant!

Looks like a super job so far (y) You're lucky that all the paint matches so well - often, parts of red cars have been resprayed in different reds...

Where did those wheels come from? I quite like them, but I think they should be a bit brighter/shinier to really go with the rest of your work. ;)
-Alex

The edge of the back wheel arces is not a great match, where it's had some rust repair, I assume. One of them needs re-doing, but it's only the 'lip' of the arch, so I'm hoping it can be done fairly neatly. I was actually thinking that the plastic arch surrounds would cover any colour problem, but no idea where to get them.
As for the wheels. Yes, I know, they look awful. Spent ages on the body, so didn't even get round to cleaning them. Have no fear, it shall be done. They came with the car (which I was given for free, incidentally :)). The make is Mangels. I imagine they've been on it a fair while.
I really appreciate the compliment, coming as it does, from the Grand Master (Southern Hemisphere branch) of Unos :worship:

Respray? Are you mad! Would cost me more than the car is worth!
Wanna know the trick for the bumpers, and other black plastic)? Jif cream, and a kitchen scouring pad. The kind that is on those square sponge things. You can spay on so-called restorers, but they'll fade pretty quickly. Nothing beats just scrubbing off all the road crap and polution that sticks to the plastic.

Very clean Uno that (y)
Have you got shares with T-Cut and Turtlewax? :chin:
:p

How could you use language like that! T-Cut indeed! But seriously, that can be dangerous stuff in the wrong hands. I use a detailing clay, followed by a mild cutting polish, then wax. All Meguiars.

So, until I have nice clean wheels to show, I shall bid ye farewell fellow Unoists :D

lovely car but i really really need to know what make those wheels are and where you got them form, because im having mine like that resprayed and all that thanks
