Punto (Mk2/2b) My Punto which i can drive in 10 days YAY!

Introduction

Hey guys im 17 in 10 days now cant wait and i bought this fiat punto mk2 1.9 jtd! I havent done much in the way of modding it yet i have fitted a 120 pound head unit in though and took the old casset player out with a wire coat hangar! was so hard took about 1 hour to do lol.

I would love some comments on what size alloys i should get and what i can do to the car in the way of modding it. Thank dudes! x

oh yh news update i passed like 3 weeks ago lol and insurance is only about 700 pounds im on mum and dads insirance but they dont drive it (y)

That is illegal.

If you declare loads of mods too, the insurance company will catch on that its your car and only you drive it and revoke the insurance. Then you'll find your premium will be a lot more than £700.

How is it illegal. How do you know that they might use his car once in a while? When he says they don't drive it, not primarily but o nthe odd occasion they may do..

This has been covered about 18 billion times on here but if your car is insured as your parents car with you as a named (occasional) driver and you are infact the main driver then that is fronting, is illegal and will cause you to wander into a 5hitstorm if you happen to have a crash (invalid insurance = driving without insurance).

If his parents are the occasional drivers then thats fine its legal (but why would he pay extra to have them on?) if it's set up so he is the occasional driver then its illegal.

You think his insurance will be bad..

my mate ( who is 17 next month ) has just bought a peugeot 306 1.9 TURBO for his first car!
Only God knows what his insurance will be???:confused:

It'll be basically the same engine seeing as the 1.9 JTD is a turbodiesel engine aswell?

Hi Jack

In theory the parent's should drive the car 51% of the time, hence the main driver(s) will be the parent(s).

But who can prove it?

If the insurance company even suspects that this is happening, they can revoke the insurance.

I'n only saying because I know someone this has happened to.

Say if you got pulled by the police in a few separate occasions and all times you were driving, it would be obvious. So would be modifiying 1.9 Jtd Punto.
