Cinquecento My Metallic Blue 1998 Cinquecento 1.1 Sporting.

Introduction

Hi well, i only joined the forum just a few day ago because i purchased this little 1998 cinqu 1.1 sporting as my little project just purely as a runaround:Djust so i do not have to drive my 2.0 16v Espace about,

I am not quite sure what iam going to be doing to it its far from being a perfict cinqu and with lots of tlc i hope in time it will be,

Well it has a years ticket on it and i have it garaged and hope to get stuck in about it in the next few weeks with a good check over mechanically then a clean top to bottom and then one of my first jobs after this is to replace the Rocker cover Gasket as it running a little at the front and then and only then will i start to sex it up a little:eek:

Cheers Scuderia

p.s Anyone now if this Blue Metallic paint colour has a name???

Cheers Blu :) all good things come to those who wait:D

Re: My Metallic Blue 1998 Cinquecento 1.1 Sporting

could've had 50mm used gmax kit from me for nothing mate, nevermind you got one now, mine are prob a bit tired anyway.

Hi,

Thanks Blu thats a very kind offer(y)as you say whats done is done:) the springs i have as i said are Gmax 40mm so no need just!! for the Gmax lowering shocks and struts to be fitted with them hence why iam just going for a new set of stock struts and shocks as my old ones look like they have been in the car for 10 years (n),i think iam right in saying that stock struts will be ok with 40mm springs??,well in an ideal world i would use the Gmax kit but money is tight:( well i got the new bump stops today and iam sure they will need to cut to size?? well the instructions with the springs suggests 20mm to be cut off them but i will wait until iam fitting it all together before doing anything stupid,Thanks again cheers

Update

Hi All:)

Well a little update and to be honest i have not been doing a lot this past month :( you know what its like for money at this time of year with 2 kids expecting Santa in 2 weeks time ;),

The Chinqu is still on its axle stands (n) so still no lowering springs fitted although i have got them G-Max 40mm,i have got the new stock front struts and rear shocks but iam not getting them until Christmas day :) but to be honest iam in no rush as i had a few other things to do,well i got the car striped down to get the timing belt and tensioner changed as i was unsure when it was last changed,i got the car set at TDC and the frywheel locked in place and got the old belt and tensioner removed and replaced with a new Dayco belt kit £20:cool: but i never changed the water pump:rolleyes: knowing my luck it will come back to bit me but hay its no big deal changing the belt on the chinqu:cool:so if it needs done i will just have to bit the bullet and do it again,i took the thermostat out and placed it into cold water bring it to the boil and it seems to be opening just around when it should so before i refitted it using a new gasket i flushed the engine and radiator and refilled it with a 50/50 mix of water and anti freeze,

I have also changed the engine oil and new filter and once this was done i was still getting a little oil leak:( but i found where it was running out from it was the coil bracket that is fixed to the end of the cam in line with the rocket cover and it was an o-ring that was broke so i replaced it and Bods you uncle cured:),i have also changed the aux belt while it was off as i had to remove the crank sprocket to get to the timing markings to set the engine to TDC so all i have left on my list of service parts to change is the plugs and fuel filter which i hope to get next week all going well,i still have the air filter to replace but iam sure it will be some form of induction kit but i have still to make my mind up on that in the new year, well other than that thats about all i have done,Oh i got a new set of tailered mats:D,speak soon all the best.

Smart looking little cinq, really liking what you have done so far. Love the colour and the gleaming engine bay (y) What did you use to get the engine bay so clean.

Hi payney1 Thank you:)

The engine bay was a sore point because it had been covered in oil from its leaks:D and with 10 years of grim:(,i covered the most of the electric bits and bobs with plastic bags and tape them in place using tape and then used my hot water pressure washer to take the most of the oil off then it was just a case of hard work with hot water and a 50/50 mix of pressure washer soap in a spray bottle until it was clean and then just used cheap trim polish spray and buffed it up,hope that helps Scuderia
