Seicento Siecento Schumacher.

Introduction

Well after loads and loads of time looking, travelling and more looking I finally nailed down a Sei Schumacher in original mint condition. As you can see its yellow! I am totally chuffed with it. Looked for all the signs Fingers told me to look for and its perfect bar a scratch on the drivers door (cheers mate (y)).

Not really any plans for it other than to love it and drive it. I will fit genuine FIAT floor mats and I am considering swapping the airbagged steering wheel over to a non airbag racy type of wheel. Just as long as I can do that without any warning lights (need to research this) then I will do that.

I have got the trader to deliver it to me this Saturday as I am not putting it on the road until the beginning of July (tax and insurance to sort etc). I am really happy with it and look forward to zipping around with it in future. :slayer:

Its got a full service history and has done 39,000 miles. The interior is very clean and the spare does not look like it has ever been used.

Thank you for the kind comment. I am starting to really enjoy the Seicento now, the pedals are a little unusual in positioning but I feel more comfortable with it now.

You are correct I really try to look after everything I own and the this Schumacher is no exception. I recently sold the love of my life (motorbike) and plan to keep this car for a good while. Its a cheeky car and stands out so much against other cars on the road and for me that adds to its appeal. I take quite a bit of stick for "owning a crap little FIAT" but I have to say I love that fact its a great little car.

I have toyed with the idea of modifying it but have up till now resisted it because I get enough enjoyment from ownership as it is. Although another 50 hose power would be nice! LOL (y)

Re: Siecento Schumacher

Hi there keep it as standard as poss too many people spoil there cars by lots of add on,s,engine mods, big exsaust etc my yellow shuie is unmodified bar a few red coach lines under the door trims, i think the red goes nice with the yellow and abarth badges on the front wings and tailgate , dash, headrests and mats also i have painted the calipers red it really looks the bees knees and i have just treated it to a paintwork protection treatment which is as easy as anything to apply it puts a protective coating on the paintwork now all i have to do is wash and dry no need to polish anymore , the car now shines like glass and has that lovely waxy smell unlike when the car was new , the next thing is to underseal the car which i will do later this month,i am really chuffed with my shuie the only comments i normally get is , it,s a bit bright isn,t it ,other than that it,s a real head turner, after having my last car written off by some plonker i am glad it,s the colour it is and now i will be seen at all times, the only problem i have had so far is the ecu needed replacing and the only anoying thing is the fan when it,s quite hot and not having a temp gauge to keep an eye on things, i think the seats are brilliant after a day at work (driving) i really look forward to driving home the seat works wonders for my back anyway hope i have not bored you too much still waiting for my brother in law to send me the pics over so i can put them out for all to see , regards marino bottali ,happy motoring.

Re: Seicento Schumacher Update

Well I have had the little Sei for a while now and really starting to love it. The CD player in it was playing up so I have purchased a new one with a nice little bonus, it has bluetooth hands free on it. I put the stereo in tonight and set up the phone. Very easy indeed. The quality is excellent, easily as good as my Grande Punto with Blue & Me and all for £70.

So now I can receive calls legally whilst on the move again. :slayer:

Bad times having to sell the Sei but its understandable with 2 children. Congratulations on the 2nd baby as well.

I am 6ft as well and it did take me a good few weeks to adjust to driving my Sei, so I can understand it. I dont have any problems with it now though. :slayer:

Re: Siecento Schumacher

i'm 6ft 2 and have no bother being comfortable in my sei, size 10 feet, no problem with the pedals, tho they are very close!, when i drive my focus i have to be careful to move my feet properly as more than once ive just twisted my ankle a little like i would in the sei, ended up with my foot sliding under the pedals!, lovely car btw(y)

Re: Siecento Schumacher

i went from a grande punto to my sei sporting and tbh its a far better car handles better and feels quicker because its so low standard. (y)

your car is looking good i just wish mine looked as good :( . i think mine was in a smash before i got it as the door is a different shade of yellow (only slightly). but i have an induction kit and a center exit exhaust and it sounds the nuts. not loud at all untill you give it some welly:rolleyes: also i have debadged it and smothed the bonnet and have a single stripe over it  ill post some pics when i have cleaned her so you can have a look

Please do. I am very tempted to get an induction kit as they sound very nice but I know it will affect my insurance. (y)

Re: MOT Today

Well I have just dropped the car off to have its MOT. The weather is terrible here but I did get a chance to give it a quick check over yesterday to ensure it does not fail on anything silly like lighting or wipers etc etc. I serviced it recently and did everything that needed doing so I am hopeful it will pass first time.

:chin:

Re: MOT Today

Just FYI Cinqster, I just got a Supersprint backbox from FastFiat and they look excellent, the sound is only slightly louder than the OE exhaust imo and it's has a nice burble when idling. Like you - my exhaust tip was the only thing visually letting mine down. I'll be adding pics when I get home from work

Re: MOT Today

good luck!! i hate mot time

Pah! it failed on front discs/pads and head lamp alignment. The front brakes looked fine when I checked them but at least its a nice cheap fix to do myself and I will get them to do the alignment. I am pleased the handbrake passed though as they are always a cause for concern on Sei's.

Re: Seicento Schumacher Update

Well its been a while so thought I would add a little more seeing as I have owned the car for a while now.

Things that have happened to the car. The fuel tank had a minor leak, Fiat replaced it under warranty even though this is now the second time it has been done by Fiat. I was totally amazed they did it but they did with no trouble. I can now fill the car to the top of the filler tube and get zero leaks or smells.

The front fogs had corroded and stopped working so I removed them and meshed over the holes left, I took the black inserts out as well. It looks really good as it is. The price of genuine fogs and the fact they dont last put me off replacing them. Mine had the later versions in and I could only find genuine Fiat units. I did toy with the idea of modding them with other aftermarket ones but opted for the cheaper meshing. In time I may get genuine Fiat part and refit them but I like the look with them meshed.

I toyed with the idea of an induction kit as I wanted the sound, I purchased a new K&N, it was ok but I realised I wanted to keep it pretty close to standard if not totally standard so have removed that.

Finally I purchased a chrome exhaust tip and realigned the exhaust outlet as it was knocking on the rear exit of the bumper. its really tidied up the rear as the old tip was rusty. It looks ok, not as nice as a 3" outlet but it is fine now as it is.

I have to say that I am over the moon with the car now I have fully acclimatised to it. It's going well, returns great economy and is a pleasure to drive. Simple, fun motoring at its best. :slayer:

Re: Seicento Schumacher Update

Pics of bumper....?
on induction side, get a replacement filter and keep eye on ebay for novitec carbon airbox ;) you could drill the airbox to get more induction noise.. don't expect any gains from it, and make sure the holes you drill are on top so as far as possible from hot air. I expect people to say its a bad idea but i ran my old sei with drilled airbox with no ill effects

edit: here's pic of my old sei's box, can pick up this bit from the scrappies for next to nothing if you wanna keep an undrilled one ;)
