Cinquecento Project PT Cinquecento

Introduction

My project is to put a Punto 1.4 GT Turbo engine into a Cinquecento Sporting. Started project 2 weeks ago by buying a crashed cat B punto gt (56000miles) with a good running engine, had the cinq for about 4 months. Great little car!!! I understand that this is not an easy conversion but i'll give it a go.(this may take a while due to kids and wife!) few pics of cars before starting, i'll post as and when i can.

Thanks for all the coments on the newbie central

yeah but its usually 16 and 3/4 year old boys posting about doing it

And even then the story normally goes along the lines of my mates brothers girlfriends cousin has just offered me the engine, and havent actually got it there ready to see the task there about to take!

word :p

Id rather get the 1.4 16v Panda engine and turbo that. It'll be lighter + alot less work to fit

6 and 2 3's really from what I understand, as the bottom end of the panda wouldn't stand the added strain. So the cost of bespoke crank/rods may tot to more than the effort required for the GT fitment of parts.

There are contradictions to this of course :p There always is.

the 1.4 T-jet engines are too new and expensive (not to mention harder to get hold of than rocking-horse crap) or they would quickly become the obvious engine swap for any small fiat ;)

forged pistons and rods IIRC, and should pull 200bhp with reliability :D

Just ordered a 1.5 ton crane today, hopefully it will arrive in 10 days and I can crack on. Not much happening at the moment, striping down the GT to its shell and selling bits off so I can have more space in the garage. I'm grateful for all the interest you guys are showing. Next post will be of engine and box coming out of punto when crane gets here!

The plan is to keep it as original to the gt as pos, same fuel pump/ecu/ brakes and instrument cluster just to keep it fault free, I hope! May go to cable clutch, just looking to see if a mods out there for hydraulics.
