sold my sporting today (yesterday now 19th), and found a jtd up for sale, ok, its as id describe 'crap' condition lol, but its alright for £1100 with a years mot and 6 months tax, got a new cd player/speakers too which i should get £60+ for. mechanicly it seems spot on though, just need to find a breaking orange sporting/hgt now tho.

it is so much nicer than my mk1, ride quality, handeling, etc etc just seems alot better, its meant to be a fair bit slower than my sporting too, but it feels quicker, i dont think it is, but it seems to have quite alot of pull through 2nd and 3rd gears.

You going for a pro respray?. Its a very hard colour to match properly with it being metallic. I Know because my first car was that EXACT colour :).

Yes the JTD will not be faster than your sporting but its the lazy torque that makes it feel fast. You need to seriously adapt your driving to make it go quick, No revving it past 4000rpms please ;). What jtd is it? the 100bhp or is it 80bhp?. Either way remap's FTW :slayer:.

im not sure yet, i might try repair the rear panel my self, i done some work on my green sporting and local paint shop matched it spot on.

wana find a rear bumper already in orange really.

nope not been revving it past 4k, no point lol, its 80bhp, will be 130ish soon though :D should deffo be quicker than my sporting then!

Sounds like a plan. Always best left to the pro's to match colour :).
If your buying a new bumper just make sure the one you get is a good match as that colour tends to fade, No where near as bad as fiat pink but its still effected more than most colours.

they are pretty tough cars, my punto jtd is on 145k miles, never had to touch the engine, apart from replacing cambelts and changing oil etc, and its getting better wih the miles, though clutch is getting tired now, only prob ive really had with the car is the usual wiper linkage

its done 85k, which is alot for a 8yr old car, but quite low compared to the other jtd's i found which had anything from 120k upto 145k!

aint got no history so i dont know

depends how you average it. It used to be averaged at 12k per year, which means its well under. If you average by 10k then its still on its average really.

Car looks good :) well done on the find.

:cool:looks nice mate..cant wait to see the finished project mines done 85k also on the clock and its driving atm lol..

When you getting it remapped then beau? :p

when ever red dot can fit me in ;):D

need some help with it though, it is very sluggish when cold, is this correct? if you floor it when cold it just drives as if you are barely touching the accelerator, its quite dangerous when pulling into round abouts etc, cos its so slow, but then after 15 mins or so, all of a sudden (feels like turning nos on lol) you floor it and it works great and seems very powerful and torquey, its just when cold its like having a 50cc engine in there.
