Punto (Mk2/2b) Munkul's thread

Introduction

well, i put a deposit down on a 52 plate Mk2 today, very happy!

its in very nice condition, standard, no signs of crash damage or owt, the only bits were a slight ding in the passenger side rear arch, and slightly kerbed alloys :)

well i think it will be an ongoing project, as long as its reliable enough!

the interior pic is quite rubbish, but the seats still look a little dirty  apparently a common problem....

i get to pick it up on saturday the 5th jan, it getting MOTed by dealer, etc

i cant wait
Re: The Official Munkul's Punto Mk2 thread

.....and already im looking for some new shoes for it :)

i really like these wheels... they have heritage, made in italy, and are (hopefully) different enough from dave's compo's to prevent murder...

but a) expensive and b) probably not right fitments...

PCD can be corrected with wobbly bolts.
ET could be fun mind!

Looks nice overall. Its nice to see one with a properly matched interior!

Re: The Official Munkul's Punto Mk2 thread

thanks for comments all :)

well im seriously considering those wheels, even if its expensive, just so that it will be different :p but its the cost that puts me off them... the search continues...

sprint blue puntos DO agree with me :p not many of them modded... hopefully il be different... plus i think its FIATs replacement colour for Rialto Blue (colour the Mk1 was)
and meh, maybe quicker, atm im not too bothered, il (try) get another years NCB in a few months and then maybe the engine mods begin (y)

i WAS thinking 16s, how come tyres are so much for them  im looking now at tyre prices pirellis etc and they arent that much more, but still...

Re: The Official Munkul's Punto Mk2 thread

****, how did i not spot that before?:bang:

still, if my memory serves me properly (only 90% chance lol) i test drove in the rain, so they must have worked then

and i will phone up the seller tomorrow, and make sure.
cheers for spotting!

oh, and another thing: the paint colour looks a LOT darker in real life than those pics (deffinately sprint blue tho)
more like this:
(btw colin if you see this pic i hope you dont mind, i absolutely love your car!)

Just take a look under the scuttle panel when you pick it up and make sure they haven't bodged it back together because it will break a few miles down the road

same happened to me on my mk2, the whole linkage will need doing.

Don't change the wheels, lower it on the standards and that will be nice.

YIPPEEEE!
SHES HERE!
a day ahead of schedule, because i took the day off work "cos i could"

Initial Impressions?
absolutely class motor! it feels just like a new car to drive, no slackness in gearbox or steering, the sound system is quite good, and everything works, most importantly:D
the window wipers had new linkage arms fitted, according to the dealer, and they were faultless coming back from newcastle in the snow, fog, rain, etc!
seats are quite clean when looked at properly.
the car is immaculate!!

so, like the pessimist i am, i just need to wait for something to break, or find something in the daylight tomorrow that's broke

oh heck i love her already, its not a true sports hatch, but its deffinately got sporting tendencies :p
i noticed it has no soft-touch plastics whatsoever.... but at least it feels well-made!

proper pics of the car in its new environment to follow tomorrow
