Punto (Mk2/2b) Munkul's thread

Introduction

well, i put a deposit down on a 52 plate Mk2 today, very happy!

its in very nice condition, standard, no signs of crash damage or owt, the only bits were a slight ding in the passenger side rear arch, and slightly kerbed alloys :)

well i think it will be an ongoing project, as long as its reliable enough!

the interior pic is quite rubbish, but the seats still look a little dirty  apparently a common problem....

i get to pick it up on saturday the 5th jan, it getting MOTed by dealer, etc

i cant wait
Re: The Official Munkul's Punto Mk2 thread

need to change your sig now :p

Re: The Official Munkul's Punto Mk2 thread

i changed oil and filter, and timing belt, and aux belt today - took me hours

timing belt looked fine, so maybe recently changed, but the oil, filter, and aux belt were well past their time.... so just as well to get them all changed!

i didnt realise selenia oil was so extortionately expensive.... but since changing, the engine has been quieter on the tappets, which can only be a good thing.

FF stickers in!

next: coilovers i think , and maybe paint for colourcoded mirrors, plus debadging the back.
MAYBE de-rubstripping

Sounds good (y). Yes selenia oil is on the expensive side but well worth it. Which oil did you get?.

IMO i'd just colour code the bumpstripes it makes the punto look taller off the ground without them and a bit crap IMO.

Don't fancy doing my timing belt do ya? im not brave enough / don't have the tools , Theres a Pentium4 laptop in it for ya if you want to do it :D.

Re: The Official Munkul's Punto Mk2 thread

Opposite end of the country are you not? Timing belt costs about £30 to fit at a garage?

anyway its a task tht can be done with a blindfold, do it yourself as long as your not bothered about having it stamped (FSH out the window). Just have a look for a guide if your worried

heh its not as easy as jordan thinks  but once youve done one youve done them all....
plus you REALLY need a large selection of tools, we had no "specialist" tools, but went with rules of thumb for tightness, etc.
theres only one bit thats really anoying, a single bolt in the middle of the engine mount that has to come out.... lucky we had enough socket sizes and bits and bobs to fit...

whats that about a P4 laptop ;)
