Marea Fiat Marea Weekend 20v

Introduction

Just a few piccies of the latest motor. A Fiat Marea Weekend ELX with the 5-cylinder 20v 2.0l engine. Its the 147hp version.

Been giving it a good clean over the last 2 days as it needed it from picking up :p. Interior has had a full going over and is spotless and the exterior has been washed twise with a full rotary polish in between. The white was looking a little creamy in places :p

Luckily no problems so far heh. My last few cars have been riddled with them (n)... Cam belt and tentioners were done not to long ago and so far it drives faultlessly! few niggliy bits like could do with a new wiper blade and the odd cosmetic problems due to fiats rubbish build on the mareas (mirror base corrosion) but nowt that wont keep me busy :p
mpg wise its a hell of alot better. doing the motorway run from london to stoke would see over half a tank cruising at around 70-80. Its only 150 miles, only about 90 of which is motorway

I picked the marea up from coventry. Straight on the M6 from j3 - j15 all the way home, around 80 miles cruising at around 70-80mph. The needle didnt move off the full mark (y) It didnt start going down until I started driving it around town and still after doing 180 miles it only down to just under 3/4

As far as power goes.. cant remember tbh but this is definatly smoother than the HGT was. Power delivery is nice and smooth rather than being jerky like the HGT was. Possibly to do with the clutch on the HGT (was dodgy) but also poss becuase the marea is heavier.. I dunno :p

One thing ive gotta say though, even though its a barge, it still handles like a little hatch. Pleasently suprised how fun it is in the twisties and and backend seems to be staying put too (y)

Looks nice

As Hellcat said its a bit harsh about the mirror comment taking into consideration some of the sheds you have bought recently that have been problem after problem.

If a bit of oxidation is all you have to worry about then I am sure youre on a winner :)

Hope you keep this longer than the rest ;)

Have you any pics of the inside?

Whats harsh about it? At the end of the day, its down to poor build quality. Cant get away from that fact. Same with the rubber door handles. Its not as if the car is old, its only 8 years old so you shouldnt really expect paint to be peeling off :p Im really not that bothered though. Ive refurbed mirror bases on 2 of my other bravo/as and i know its not a tricky job. Just a passing comment thats obviously hit a nerve for no reason what so ever...

Will see about the fuel... Its not drinking it like the HGT used to so im not really that bothered.

Anyway, for all you anti-artisticblackandwhitemareapictures... Heres some colour piccies too (y)

What rubber door handles? You have a HLX!

The 'paint' on the mirror mounts is very similar to the material that makes up the door handles. Obviously their supplier has sold them a pup all them years ago with UV unstable coatings. Alfa 156s have this problem too. Not Fiat's fault per se. Fiat wouldn't be the first company to have issues with the effects of UV light.

Anyway enough of the science lesson. Glad you're enjoying the Marea and you and Babs can now see how you can have fun in an estate. Oh and you'll both enjoy how it drives too.. :p

Watch that fuel needle though - If it's anything like the diesels half the physical tank = between full and 3/4 on the dial. Then the needle does a believeable impression of an aeroplane with no wings.

Just a quick photoshop of the planned mods to the car.

Colour coded door rub strips
Colour coded bumper rub strips
debadge of wing
debadge of rear
Colour coded bumper splitters
Fiat side skirts OR colour coded side panels
Lowered 40mm
15"x7" rondel alloy wheels refurbed with black centre.

I do like weekends in white, shame ours is going at some point

That looks really good.

Does that mean your going to sell the Alfa alloys on ebay?:yum:

What started out as just a little bit of fun has now turned into something quite serious!

Was bored this afternoon so decided to have a play around on photoshop with the Marea. Started with some little side skirts, which then turned into some monster beefy skirts and then a front apron to match and then the wide archs and rear apron came along too!

This is all ive done so far but im still paying around! Just thought ide post a Work In Progress of my masterpiece lol :D

Lol Jamie. I know. Its not really supposed to look good in a styling way. Its just a mess about on photoshop to improve my skills (y)

Don't hate, congratulate!

Although tbh, I bet 3-4 years ago, ude be saying the complete opposite :p

Anyway, matt black bonnet and roof with a tasty new grill :D
