Couldnt wreck a fiat!

100 quid secured this p/x bargain! A bit of a sleeper with a 2.5 v6 under the bonnet :yum:

151k! 1994 Mondeo Auto estate MOT till october so sound for our rally

Its a bit rough round the edges, notably 2 front wings are both dented

A new interior is needed and the autobox is making a bit of a noise, plus the tyres are a bit sorry for themselves

What you think?

make sure you get waterpump and belts changed, if pump goes, byebye engine ;)

2.5 V6 is chain driven so no need to worry bout cambelt ;)

but it will be getting the once over :D

Its not the same engine as found in the v6 mondeo ST then?

Not sure TBH, been told it is chain driven by people on the mondeo club forum, one of my team is a member on there

It might be worth swapping out the auto box for the MT75 manual gearbox. Fixing/replacing the autobox could be expensive (unless of course you can find a decent one at a scrappy)

EDIT: Luke, I always thought these engines were belt driven too. I would emagine that the chain is only used for timing, and the aux devices are belt driven.

LOL! we're not made of money :D were 4 poor students wanting a good time. :)

we only need it for 4 days/1500 miles after that we can sell it/scrap it in prague

well if the 'box does blow up, there are pleanty of mondeos in the scrappy, and I meant the MTX75 gearbox, (the MT75 is sierra box and wouldn't fit), the autos are a little rarer. Anyway good luck with it, it may just want some new fluid and a bit of nursing!

Sorry to drag this back up but a bit of an update for you. Ive just copied this straight across from the czechwrecks forum

Well we have finally got the beast home!

Ive taken some pics on my phone but i cant seem to upload them to my PC so will take some more another day.

The car has 12 PREVIOUS OWNERS! we are lucky 13th! Can anyone beat that statistic?

Overall i think we have done well. The engine is absolutely immaculate, it is probably the cleanest one that will grace CRX, we suspect an engine change at some point but no documentation to prove this. You will see for yourselves in due course when some pics are uploaded how clean it is.

Mechanically it seems sound, no oil is being burnt, no sign of HG failure, smoke is clear, apart from when you boot it, when a little bit of black smoke comes out, which is no problem. The autobox is fine, but will be refilled with gearbix oil.

All the filters are fine but will be changed, as will a new water pump which is imperitive, because if that fails its bye bye car, although this seemed fine.

The radio works, as does the A/C, all lights and electrics were working as well.

The car has also a complete full stainless steel exhaust system Laughing which is a bit loud!

Cosmetically the car is a bit of a tip, The wings are pure CRX, There is no interior at all anymore, the vehicle has been stripped of everything! No doorcards, nothing! There is only one drivers seat! Apparently it was planned to be used as a track car. The worst choice of trackcar mind because...

A. Its an estate
B. Its an auto

Luckily we have a spare MK1 mondeo which we can nick most of the interior from plus the front wings from, so expense may not be much, just a bit of labour.

New tyres will be needed but easy enough to source. Plus tracking and balancing

To drive the vehicle is very comfortable at motorway speeds apart from the noise from the exhaust. Circa 90mph it is a bit unstable so new shocks more than likely, but no plans for this speed on the continent.

In terms of fuel we but 20 quid in it from just about empty which took the needle to just below half full. We reckon that there is a gallon at least still in it and the trip was 103 miles so 300 miles to a tank we are hoping for, which for a 2.5 V6 is good going

Overall we reckon we have done well and are happy. We are all glad the hard part of purchasing is over and can look forward to the little jobs of the interior and the modifying process.

Possibly pics tomorrow and scrappie visiting for the seats
