Blu's Suzuki Ignis Sport

Introduction

So been toying with getting one for a while but today i actually bit the bullet and bought one...

2004 Suzuki Ignis Sport - Its just clocked past 44k miles so not bad mileage for a 10 year old car. For them that don't know it is a 1.5vvti engine - seems a very good engine, pulls from very low down but also very revvy. It weighs in at under a tonne. Fantastic handling little thing too, really holds on through the corners, i'm impressed! Its pretty much a japanese panda 100hp except a little lighter and a litter faster out of the box. Still feels like a small car even after driving a cinq daily although i do feel like i'm sat REALLY high up!

Not much done to it, just has a SuzukiSport grill, which are supposedly pretty rare and desirable amongst suzuki people - certainly improves the look of the car no end (AC rad has been painted black so its not as noticeable through the grill too).

And it has some aftermarket alloys, not sure on the brand i didn't check with decent tyres (Toyo T1-Rs) - but i got the oem wheels with good tyres too - might keep them as winter wheels.

Oh and square plates are not standard either.

Anyhow, some pics......

The mk1 CRX is the lads new car, he bought it yesterday to replace the Iggy. Only 6 of them mk1 CRX in the UK according to howmanyleft, was a very cool car indeed. nearly all fibreglass and only weighs a bit more than a cinquecento except it has almost triple the power lol.

All in all I am most pleased - it is like a fiat though and the red is a bit flat - i shall machine polish it soon and hopefully it will come up really nice.

Massive thank you to Simon a.k.a buttflap212 for the lift and good to see you again fella ;)

Comments welcome.
Very nice, looked at the ignis before I got the mk3 panda, the 3 door ones are rare around here and only ever seen 1 sport.

They kinda look like an overinflated panda mk1.

There is an early CRX (think it's mk1 will snap it next time) makes sporadic appearances in my village outside the butchers! I do like a car with lots of plaggy trim stuck on it....

They are rare is why you don't see them, there is less than 2k Ignis Sports in the country including the Sorn'd ones. There has infact never been 2k Ignis Sports in the country either.

The lad i bought it off bought a mk1 CRX as his new car, gorgeous thing. They are very rare though, i suspect your seeing a mk2 CRX. The mk1 is made of fibreglass and is really uber rare even in japan. They weigh only a tiny bit more than a cinquecento amazingly.

Well went to take a valve cap off this morning - i got new ones i wanted to fit - they are on so so tight though, i managed to get one off but then the second one was so tight that i snapped the actual valve itself in half and then obviously all the air came out :mad::mad:

So thought to myself, nevermind just swap the wheel for one of the spares (stock wheels), swapped it over and then went to do other side so same wheel size and tyre across the axle and that tyre has some mega gouges on the inside edge, probably pothole damage from look of them. So that need replacing - now the car has Toyo T1R on one side and Yokohama S-Drives on the other which is one of my pet hates not having same tyres all round; this damaged one is one of the Yoko tyres which fortunately are the ones with less tread left so now i think i am just gonna take all the wheels down a tyre shop and have new valves put in the ones with Toyo's (not got the valve caps off them but i suspect that they will just snap as well as they are just as tight) and 2 new Toyo's and valves on the other 2. Will have to look at my finances first though.

So for now, it is back on stock wheels with budget tyres and its just horrible - its miles better over bumps but its like driving on ice compared to the Cades wheels with decent tyres.

well for finances reasons he (he's a he now, more on that in a sec) i have not sorted the tyres and valves on the Cades alloys yet. I have got some new valves to go in, short stubby ones as i prefer them but tyre shops always fit the normal longer ones.

But i have finally replaced the silly square plate on the rear that is too tall for the number plate recess with a 13x7 one. It also has his new name on it. Mrs Blu decided on a name for her first car so he is now called 'Oberyn - The Red Viper'

Here is the old plate, clearly too tall for recess

And the new one

if you saw it without a plate on you would realise its designed for a square plate not a uk one.. so :nerner: there is a raised flat section exactly same size as that plate - although really its designed for a jap style plate like the rear one on the red one.

I prefer the square plate by a long shot myself and will probably replace the plates on silver car for jap size front and rear. You can think i am wrong, I won't hold it against you, well not much :p

No-one wanna comment on the one rear mudflap then?? haha

well, cause i love haters i have plastered stickers all over silver Iggy's rear end.

Also, as the instrument cluster is blue with red needles i don't understand why the centre console lights up green, so swapped the green bulbs for blue leds - have removed the green tint from the clock but only had blue bulbs and spot type leds - the leds made it just have 2 bright blue spots and the blubs as in the pic don't look as blue as it should - new ones ordered and en route already though ;)

Anymore shots of the mk1 crx. Have a mk2 i-vt ee8 myself as I couldnt find a mk1

well suppose i should update this..

carrying on with the not taking this silver one (still not named it yet) too seriously, even more stickers

Bought myself a dremel the other day (why have i never bought one before?!?!?! So handy and fun). Well had to find something to do with it so bought another airbox and... well... chopped it up
2014-11-03 16.04.03.jpg

And fitted with a new air filter (the green plug cover has since gone, currently just a oem black plastic but no pic). It does bog down a little bit really low compared to stock setup but breaths nicer up in the rev range - heat soak could be an issue in town but i live out of town so not worried about that before someone says anything - i repeat, this car is just for kicks and giggles so this was really more for induction noise whilst still using a dry filter and not an aftermarket oiled filter which will mess up the MAF sensor over time, plus this was uber cheap.

And also bought some Apex 35mm lowering springs (just springs for now) which were fitted yesterday.

After:

Also fitted an exhaust yesterday which i got for cheap cheap.. Is a custom item as there is no off the shelf exhausts for the car (that i know of). Is a Powerflow (or powerslow as i like to call them) - is stainless all the way from the manifold to the back, and sounds nice - not really loud but has a nice rasp to it when really going. Its far from good craftmanship but it was cheap and its made the car sound decent so i am happy. Sorry no pics or videos of it as of yet.

Have got a grill same as the red one for it, but not got round to painting it as of yet, currently its yellow.

cheeky vid of new exhaust.. Need to get a fly-by video but haven't yet

I have finally cleaned the car though, and can report that the wheels are a nightmare, took about 3 times longer to clean the wheels than the rest of the car did..

And more stickers  yes i have issues, i am aware.
