Introducing Monty Quant ^^

Introduction

While I'm new here, I've been on the Classic Mini scene for around 12 years now...and this little fellow is my first love as cars go. He's actually my first car, purchased way back in 2002 and lovingly restored to be the best of his kind.

His name is Monty Quant. He's a limited edition Mary Quant Mini 'Designer', 1988 vintage, in full original trim with barely 88k on the clock to show for his 25 years on the road. ^^ He has several 'Best In Classes' and a 6 page spread in Mini Magazine to his name.

Any other Mini fans on here?

Cheers!
Thx ^^ To be honest, I'm not surprised you've never encountered a Designer, they're not a popular special edition. There were only 2000 ever made and they were UK only release, low numbers making them quite rare in this day and age lol. They're quite an acquired taste though, stripes and all, and generally end up turned into Cooper clones or similar. Sad really, they have a quirky, stripey charm all their own.

Dare I ask if your first motor was a Panda by any chance? ;)

Maaaybe :D (it's the middle one in the signature image).

Sounds a shame that the designer editions get changed to coopers though. Plenty of coopers about.

I'm the only one in my family without a mini; the pressure is on...it's their fault though, they gave me the old panda in the first place! Now I have 4 of them...yes there is a 4th

I think my parents are more keen for me to get a mini than grand children tbh! haha.

*Grins* Trust me, I know where you're coming from. Some cars are like chocolates - can't have just one. I'd have a whole fleet of Minis if I could afford them and had the space to house them! lol

As is, I kept Monty after 6 years of faithful road-warrioring from him but have retired him from day-to-day duties after one too many rear end shunts from bigger cars with apparently blind drivers. I picked up an old Pug 106 four years ago to spare him further injury and have just PX'd her against my second love, a new 500 ^^ (also black, lol) Need to get some decent pix of Monty and Mynx (500) when the weather decides to co-operate.... ¬_¬

Mini fan here but mine is a 2012 edition due to the huge number of miles we cover I don't think an older one would survive very long, however lots of our friend have early minis in fact one of them was seen on a trailer earlier today to star in a film about Stephen Hawkins life as the 'family car'
