Hi Guys

I'm currently selling my GP, and after it's sale will have around £5k to spend.

I've looked at so many cars, and can't make my mind up... so...

Any ideas what I could buy, I need something a little quicker (100bhp+), good on insurance and tax....?

Not the hyundai ..........

Why are you selling the GP? Just wanting something quicker yeah ?

Ming

Odd & if I may say, a predictably uninformed response. i30 came 4th in the JD Power "Best 50 cars" over the last 10 years. Take a look at the 46 other makes & models that their own owners chose to mark down...

OP says he wants something more practical 100Bhp+

I don't think it's a particularly good looking car though... And yeah the whole reason of selling is just for something a little quicker.

I've been looking at the 207 GT and GTI, apparently the 1.6 engine in those was joint developed with BMW mini...

207 is an OK choice, my youngest has the 1.4 Sport. Full leather, it's a nice enough car TBH, just doesnt do anything particularly well. I didnt want her to buy it having read the reviews, but then I wouldnt have had my Grande if I'd believed the Reviews on it...
Buy a good un & you should be fine with a 207 but choose carefully :)

Yeah the French reliability is a problem for me

Understand that, no issues in particular with the one we have on our drive to be fair. What dont you like about the looks of the i30 that you couldnt look past? I've grown to really like the look of mine, its squat, wide looking, well thought out & very practical as well as cheap to insure & run... reliability is exactly what the reputation is & there is a decent i30 Owners Club (but not much in there to do with real problems lol!) Take a test drive, you might be impressed... plus a 2008 example fits your budget with 2 years full warranty left.... oh & colour is everything (Storm Grey FTW!) (y)

@ Foxy - I can see what you mean, but as long as I can fit my son in, I'm not hugely fussed about paying an extra £200 per year for insurance etc.. and as with looks, I like something aggressive looking, like the german cars, lol.

BMW copied the i30 looks for their 1 series lol! Well sides & rear anyhow!
GP's dont look aggressive, they look like a midget Maserati I suppose but only from the front. Peugeot 207 looks very girly, even my daughter who owns one said that.

So you want something like a 3 series Beemer for around £5k with low insurance, cheap to run & tax... Hmmm... let me think.....

Haha! Yes please. I can stretch budget if needs be. Like the A3, and Leon (with BTCC kit)... anything I can't afford really.

Was looking at a Focus ST rep (diesel)... the looks for cheap

EDIT and I think the 207 GTI looks mean in black
