Munkul's shonky Nissan..

Thought I'd put a thread up of what I'm (reluctantly) rolling in now

I fell in love with drifting and I wanted a proper classy car like a PS13 or an rx-7, but common sense told me that if i got a super-cool car, I would be gutted if I stuffed it!

So one night last september I saw this on ebay, took a chance, and got it transported all the way up from southampton

This is exactly how I bought it:

CAR SPECIFICATIONS:

- Model : Nissan 200sx s14
- Engine size :1998 16v SR20DET
- Mileage: 78,000
- Year : 1996
- Colour : Metallic purple

ENGINE MODIFICATIONS :

(not sure here what is definite - "apparently" Full build, 2.1, forged pistons, strengthened lightened balanced con rods, flat planned race crank, new bearings throughout, lightened and balanced flywheel, ap paddle clutch, ported polished and gas flowed cylinder head, bronze valve guides, nismo steel head gasket, nismo tc gasket kit throughout, garrett gt roller bearing turbo, s/steel exhaust, induction kit, new tappets, new timing chain. But not many receipts to prove it all!)

What i know so far:

- Wiseco forged oversize pistons
- Garrett GT28R turbo
- Full stainless exhaust
- AP Racing Paddle clutch
- Cone filter
- New timing chain

STYLING MODIFICATIONS:

- None

INTERIOR:

- None (standard leather is imacculate though!)

CHASSIS:

- Standard suspension
- Possible LSD or maybe just a well working viscous diff
- Lenso multispoke pimptastic wheels
- grooved discs all round

ICE:

- Sony HU with 6 CD changer in boot
- Infinity components all round

Now I have done quite a lot of work to it since then, and done a couple of drift days in it, its absolutely ace

Now that the punto is getting a rebuilt engine, I have to use it as a daily... its both good and bad... fast, but FAR from refined!!! Current spec to come.
Thanks Rawb thanked for this post

Re: Munkul's shonky Nissan

I'd say the temptation for roundabout rudeness is always there Its very hard to find a non ragged one and your one seems to be mark free

What would a "super cool" car have been though...?

- HKS 1.1bar pressure cap
- massive FMIC and alloy pipes
- ARC titanium ducting panel
- EGR blanked
- Nistune ECU with Horsham Developments stage 1 ignition map
- HardRace engine mounts
- AP Racing Paddle clutch
- Cone filter and Apex intake hard pipe

CHASSIS:

- Daiyama (Japspeed) coilovers, camber, height, dampening and preload adjustable, pillowball mounts
- Driftworks rosejointed camber arms
- Toyosports rosejointed toe arms
- Nismo gearbox mount
- solid bushed rear subframe
- solid bushed differential
- welded (locked) diff
- 300zx (z32) alloy 4 pot calipers up front
- Yellow stuff rear pads, stock ferodo fronts
- grooved discs all round
- proper alignment for track and drift

WHEELS
Set of Mustang "bullitt" 17x8j
Set of fake Work 17x8j painted yellow/orange
Set of 300zx wheels 16x7.5j
Pair of lenso multispokes (smashed one so have 3 actually)

STYLING MODIFICATIONS:

- Zenki Grille
- LED sidelights

INTERIOR:

- Rally suede steering wheel
- oil temp, pressure and boost gauges
- Nismo gear knob
- K-sport hydraulic handbrake
- Wilwood brake bias adjuster
- flyoff handbrake button (fitted before I got the hydro)

ICE:

- Sony HU, ripped the CD changer out
- Infinity components all round

FUTURE MODS:

- upper lip spoiler
- boost controller and a custom map
- sideskirts
- rosejointed front castor rods
- big brake conversion front and back

and.. errr... not much else really! Its already at the stage where it just wants used. Hard.

Then it looked like this

Painted some wheels stupid colours, did some more of this

Got sensible, and bought mustang wheels, cos I knew it would be boss if I pulled em off!

And... thats it so far!

Tyre pile

And why its a daily atm:

Re: Munkul's shonky Nissan

it feels awesome

I dont smoke or drink (much), I havent spent half on this as Ive spent on the punto altogether, and I do all my own work on it, so there isnt that much money in this as you think. Some of the parts are s/h which helps a lot.

I think £5k altogether will finish this car off for me performance wise - not a lot for a properly put together track/drift car with 300bhp! But if i keep my job at the end of the summer, its getting some bodywork and a respray

@ m20b25: a "super cool" car would be something a bit classier looking, less 90's gay, more 80's mean. An earlier silvia PS13 (a car I WILL own some day) like this:

Or an rx-7 FC (old shape) like this:

Or even a newer s14a (same as mine but with the sharper looking headlights)

So far though, what I've spent on this would only JUST buy a nice slightly tuned example of any of the above cars... and this car has a mint shell, whereas most rx-7s and 14's are rotten So this is a keeper for now.

BUT... I'm liking the s14 early shape more and more... I was gonna change it to 14a front but the "zenki" front flows much better with the overall shape of the car. It can be made to look really cool with the right bodykit and wheels:

Re: Munkul's shonky Nissan

Sweeet! Most of the S14s over here are white and crash repaired... My only experience of drifting is in my luxobarges and while on hols I got a go in an A31 Cefiro, much fun in a car park

Some madmen over here have EVOs and WRXs with the front driveshafts disconnected, must be something else to get those sideways

Ever consider one of these for the track?

Re: Munkul's shonky Nissan

what is it? A JZX100? I'm not really "with" the toyota/lexus saloons I love em though, cant beat big 4 door barges with massive engines in as standard!

Where are you from anyways?

Re: Munkul's shonky Nissan

Its a JZX100, ironically I've only seen them as taxis over here, a hideous waste theres alot more JZX90 Chasers here, I quite like the look of them but still think these are much better looking

I'm from Ireland, approx 30 miles from Dublin, I regularly see the locals going tail happy on every crossroads and car park in the countryside, tend to pick up a thing or 2 from them, its our 2nd nationwide passtime at this stage

I'm more into Mercs and BMWs (my username is the engine code for my car ) but someday hope to delve into the drifting world with an old jap luxobarge

thought it was a bimmer engine code

I swear the Irish are born sideways... they always do really well for themselves at a european and even worldwide level! The last Allstars event we watched (last monday at teesside) the Irish were hogging all 3 places on the podium

Re: Munkul's shonky Nissan

Ive had it since I was 16, it needs restoring. Going sideways in an auto is very difficult compared to a manual... Have most of the bits to put her right, just need a fuel pump and time to put it all right I used to have an M50 manual 520i, I kept at it till the tyres were showing wire

I cant understand it either and ive seen it going on for years! A few years ago there was a young chap from Tipperary in an S14 240SX, only 15 and was competing in a european tournament I must find out who it was and put the link here

Re: Munkul's shonky Nissan

Lookd for "Duane Mckeever" - he was competing last year in Allstars, in a 600-700bhp rb26 s13, at the grand age of... 14

And got a video of him in action shame he came to a sticky end in bishopscourt...

http://forums.forzamotorsport.net/fo...d/3990902.aspx

Still trying to find out who that was competing in the euro drift tournament... I think its because we start driving young, I learned to drive by myself when I was 12 for example... When did those guys start?!

Re: Munkul's shonky Nissan

Personally, I like the look of the S13 or the S15 better...I was lucky enough to get to drive my little brothers S13 around as my daily for about 2 months

Also, you will need to rehost your images on the forum, just like in the Fiat Members Motors threads. Drop me a PM with the links and I'll update it for you
