Panda Terra workhorse.

Introduction

Hi all!
Can I formally introduce my new aquisition. :D

I know the title says Panda Terra, but of course it's a Seat really. If you've already seen the auction watch thread you'll know a bit about it.

Picked it up yesterday and drove it 100 miles home no problem. It does have a couple of things that need sorting, will go into more detail when I finish work. Until then, a couple more pics........

In good overall condition, with only 39,000 miles on the clock, but it has been scraped down the n/s.........

903cc but fitted with a 'fire' engine.........

Haha! that had you goin. :p
Aha! I was wondering who bought it!!
I always wanted a Terra- It's the extra room yet it's still a 5 seater. What are you going to do with it? Is it specifically made for disabled peeps or was it converted? I am not sure.

wrong section, just coz you put a fire engine in it it dont make it a fiat :p

Aw! please can we keep it. I'll get a Fiat badge and everything. :(

It's been converted since new by a company called 'Chairman' to allow for the fitting of a wheelchair in the rear.

My initial plans are...

Bigger motor, fancy paint job, sportier seating, and alloy wheels. Then with the wheelchair finished I'll turn to the car. :p

Wow nice find Vernon!! Welcome to the banished area of the forum :p We should buy some fiat stickers and rebadge our SEAT's so we will be let back into the panda section

How is it doing on rust? Looks good, liking the mk1 look to it (suprisingly). Maybe a camper conversion???

Cheers,
Si

Hi Si, Cold over here isn't it! ;)

Still, with what you're doing to your Marbella and what I evenually do to this Terra they'll all be wanting to join us. :p
I did try the Fiat badge approach but it fell on deaf ears and a cold heart. You're not reading this are you Dave? :)
I think we should consider ourselves very lucky to have this little corner of thier forum really.

Rust, well as far as I can see it hasn't got any! I haven't looked underneath yet but there's nothing on any of the bodywork. It did make me think that these Marbellas make great donors for MK1 Pandas if you find one being broken. I certainly wouldn't suggest breaking a good one in order to save a MK1 Panda. Whoop's, more sarcasm, I must be in that kind of mood.
The only issues I've found so far are a leaking windscreen seal, oil leak on the engine, rocker gasket I think but the tappets could do with adjusting anyway, and no w/screen washers. it has a manual pump just below the choke for the washers so may swap to electric using parts from my spares Panda.
I'm also seriously considering using the bonnet, grille, headlights and bumper from it too, in order to make it look more like a Panda. I think the more square look will suit the van better.
Any other plans will have to bounce around in my head for a while till I've finished a couple of my Pandas. As I've already mentioned, this has turned up a couple of months too early, but it was exactly what I wanted and they don't turn up too often.
I must thank Blurredman for putting up the thread in auction watch, I'd have missed it otherwise, as they weren't on my radar at this time. (y)(y)(y).
Incidentally, what is the capacity of the Fuel tank? I went to fill it today from near empty and could only get £22.50s worth in it, is that normal or have I got a smaller tank because of the lowered floor in the back?

I am not sure about Terra's Vernon (may i call you that?)

But my Marbella only fills up to 6.6 Gallons. Maybe it was decreased in size to make extra room for that lowered floor..

Yep, Vern/Vernon/VmanC, all fine.

Hmm, I'll have to get under and have a look, but too busy tidying the top bits this weekend.

haha, I felt just the same when I was banished dont worry. Certain VIP's on here are extremely anti SEAT and would sooner see a "lancia" Y10 discussion in the panda section than the closer to the real thing marbella/terra. Quite interesting seeing as when you add it to your garage the option reads Fiat Marbella!! :p Anyway, a few people have spotted the marbella build from the panda section so its not all bad.

I must add I havent broken a marbella to save a mk1 yet, cant say that people on ebay havent done it for me though..... :D

Regarding your fuel tank, no idea about the terras. I do know the marbella fuel gauges are utter rubbish. less than 20 years old and the fuel sender has gone on mine! 25 year old mk1's are going strong at similar mileages too.

Anyway, look forward to seeing your plans. We got a 3 member fan club going on here :slayer:

John said it should be a mobile disco or a mini bar.

I had a Seat Terra years ago (it was the normal type not the pope wagon. Think it was either a F or a G plate. bought for £75 with a suspected gearbox problem. It turned out to be a linkage problem. It flew through it's MOT and I sold it on to a friend who was moving to Spain. He drove it all the way there run around in it for 6 months then his dad drove it back home and it was used for about 3 years in total.

Nice find Vman (y)

Cheers guys (y). I'm thinking, that section of roof on the van bit, from the gutter up, would make one helluva sub box .

Well I've been all over the bodywork this weekend cutting and polishing, and I'm happy to report, it's remarkably rust free! The paintwork came up looking very fresh, that plus the fact that the old mot's show it to have barely averaged 2000 miles a year, only covering 400/500 miles in between some of them leads me to think that it's been garaged for alot of its life.
Anyway, here's some pics of how it looks now. Appologies for the framing, only the view finder packed in. (n)

As you can see, the back bumper's are a bit tatty, so I will have to do something with them. It's also got those scrapes down the n/s, but I can live with this for a while till I finalise a plan for it. :D
