I have defected...

Introduction

As I mentioned in my MM thread the GP has now gone to a new home :(

Last week I picked up it's replacement :D here it is:

2002 (R53) Mini Cooper S in Electric Blue with White roof and mirror caps.

It is pretty much factory spec except for a few options from the dealer:
- Chilli pack (zenon lamps, 17" S spoke alloys, air-con, etc)
- Full black/blue leather interior with blue carpet
- Multifunction steering wheel with cruise control and a boot changer
- Aero sideskirts

I've not had a chance to really give it a good clean but I wanted to remove the white bonnet stripes so I did that and gave it a quick wash last night.

Seeing as it was nice weather this evening I popped out with my camera in search of a half decent location for some photos..... Here's what I ended up with:

When I've got a bit of time I will give it a proper clean and try to get a handful of photos from some new locations.

Plans for completion before Christmas are to swap out the spot lights/standard grille with an Aero grille, replace the broken side repeater, fit a bee-sting aerial and fit an Ipod connection to the stereo.

As for performance, I want to enjoy it for what it is but will no doubt at some point work on getting a bit more power. A rough list at the moment looks something like this:

- Enclosed forced induction system
- GRS top mounted intercooler
- Alta 15% reduced supercharger pulley
- Miltek cat back exhaust system

That lot should be good to bump it up to around ~200/210BHP

I will also lower it at some point on Eibach springs and Koni FSD shocks.

Thats all for now, feel free to comment.

Cheers,

Si
This is a forum for Fiats Si

Ummmm you sure about that dude? >>>>> Members Motors (Non-FIAT) lol :p

Is a top car though, especially considering you get to use it daily

Cheers Alex, you know how I feel about it :D Only problem is I want to mod the crap out of it, can't stop eyeing up performance parts for it

dont think i like the aero bumper now ive seen it on the car looked great off, but cant really tell till see it in flesh as may be the angle pic is taken at, middle lower grill definately needs black behind it aswell :) sorry si im a cynic! :p

Gaz, it's an aquired taste mate although I think it looks a lot better in person.

Jay, it's a spelling mistake made by someone who obviously can't read  I mean't Getrag.

Afraid not Adam (although I almost bought a black one with chequered roof)

CC's arches are a posibility for the future, would give me a chance to get a few other bits tidied up at the same time :)

I spent this afternoon replacing a couple of servicable items (air filter and spark plugs). The plugs weren't too bad considering they've been in there for a while but the air filter was shocking, looked like it's been in there since new:

The S is running a lot smoother and really picking up from low revs now where as before it was a bit hesitant.

Once that was done I cut/fitted some matt black vynal for behind the lower Aero grille. Got to say it looks 100x better now.

Just waiting on my Aero decals to arrive from MiniPirate then I will be one happy boy :)

Was a bit mucky, full of filtered debris and a little bit oily at the back end of it for some reason.

It's those grilles ^^^^^^ but the lower one (just above the number plate) now has the black vynal behind it to blend in with the other grilles. It should have been painted matt black to start with but the bodyshop messed up and colourcoded it.

I'm waiting on some vynal inserts for the fog light surrounds and for the recesses in the rear bumper.

Will get updated pics up of the whole car once they're on.

That's such a gorgeous S :yum: It belongs to a chap named Alex (guy on one of the owners clubs) and was on the cover of Modern Mini mag a couple of months back.

It's styled just right in my opinion and is putting out a rather respectable 230bhp. Porsche 911 Turbo brake upgrade is nuts :slayer:

As I said last month, I managed to get my hands on some new and freshly painted Aero bumpers for a decent price (it meant taking a rear bumper with PDC holes and bunging them up for the time being).

I've been meaning to get some pictures up since fitting the bumpers but I've not had a chance to clean it properly yet with this weather but I was leaving work this afternoon, remembered that my camera was in the boot and couldn't turn down a chance to get some pics of the Mini playing in the snow :D (sorry it's so filthy)

Plenty more to come in the new year but Christmas has wiped me out so it's time to give the plastic a rest.

I plan to get a bodyshop to colour code the arches and fill in the PDC holes at some point but I think new wheels and lowering are a higher priority (gotta go low after all  )

Hope you like, I know that I do

CC arches would look like the pic that Adam posted above as that's the same colour (all be it with a GP front bumper rather than the Aero front bumper).

I don't think that I wan't to go any lower than about 30mm, maybe on the Eibach springs but all of the guys on the Mini forum that I'm on keep trying to convince me to fit KW coilovers and slam it to the floor (but it's not a Dub)
