Puntokris - Civic Type-r ep3 project thread

Introduction

Heres the project thread for my Civic type-r ep3, I bought her nearly two weeks ago and loving every minute. I used to slate these cars because they were so common, but now I own one I can understand why there are so many on the road. Its a brilliant car, well put together, quite quick and very well balanced. The ST has nothing on this.

Heres a quick pic of it at a jap meet on sunday, and outside my house after a coat of dodo juice. I'll keep updating this thread with pics as and when I do different bits to it. Got plenty of plans for this car and a few things on order already ;)

Its already got rear tints and full leather interior (rare on the ep3) and the latest addition of JDM mats.

Watch this space.

I was looking at these, but ST will win, cause im get power and more power and enough to kill myself with! lol... Anyway, I hope your going to get it slammed, and nicer alloys... them arches look like they can take 19's! hey hey

Take it your having the 2.3 conversion with turbo or supercharger then?

There won't be any 19s going on this car, standard wheels unless I see some nice lightweight ones I like.

Nice Kris. Test drove a CTR about six months ago and loved it. Couldn't drive a car like that every day cause I'd just thrash it everywhere. Still not as good looking as your GP imho

Thanks, its quite surprising how frugal it is when you keep out of vtec.

I park next to my old GP a few days a week when I go to the gym (a friend owns it) and a part of me will always want it back.

If its between vtec and diesel you know which one I'm going for though.

You wanna fit a GruppeM induction kit on it.

You won't get heatsoak on it and its the best kit you can get for it. (For the price to, it better be) Retails at £250+

For a GruppeM you are looking at more £600+ mark.

Will probably go for a long ram version of the AEM kit, proven gains and doesn't suffer from heatsoak either. Also sounds amazing when it comes on cam.

Cool cars, was tempted by one but it's no french hot hatch ;)

Mind you guess you haven't had your exhaust rust through in 2years

Well the exhaust has started to blow recently
Not a problem it just means I need to decide on which system to buy, supersprint or spoon...

looks nice mate, they are really good cars, only down side is like you said, you see quite a few about :)

Cheers, yea theres a few about but you know what i'm like. It won't stay standard for long.

The modding kicked off this week, I'll get an update up at the weekend. Going for a JDM / track style.

**Update**

First thing is first, I wanted to sort out the little bits on the car I didn't like.
The gearknob was worn as the woman who owned the car before me always wore a ring, so I replaced it exactly the same one, but refurbed in gunmetal. The gaitor looked like it had been made from a spare CV boot some japanese fitter had found on the factory floor on a friday afternoon. So I purchased myself a nice red stitched one to match the steering wheel and leather seats.

The gearknob had seen better days:

:yuck:

Sorry about the quality, will get a better pic soon. Seen here both fitted:

I've also added Genuine Honda JDM red floormats only ever fitted to the jap civics. Very good quality and look superb. Usually go for around £130 second hand! But of course I didn't pay that much for them ;) Pics soon!

I needed some noise in my life so I opted for the AEM long ram induction kit, gives proven gains and I heard one at a recent meet...

Picked it up sunday :)

So tonight at 7:30 I decided to fit it. 3 hours and 20 fags later and it was done, believe it or not the most time consuming part was to get the arch lining back in again as the wheel and arch lining come out because the filter sits in the bottom corner of the bumper.

I took it for a spin and its alot better low down, and noticeably quicker in VTEC imo. Maybe its just the placebo affect, but RR results on standard ep3s have shown anything between 3 - 10 bhp (apparently)
But the show stopper is the noise, it sounds great and when it hits VTEC it sounds incredible, absolutely evil. A great piece of kit!

Thats it for now, but suspension is on its way and so are a few more JDM bits...

I'm on ctrowners club and it gives good advice and support. Apparently those zorsts are good but the way the prices of jap import stuff has gone up is unbelievable. Might have to go supersprint. btw, i'm not buying a vauxhall :p
