Kept wondering whi I am getting poor reception on my new radio (I replaced an M1 with H1) and wanted to straighten out the antenna.

Once I touched it it just fell off. The rod broke just by the hinge. I am taking off right not to buy a whole new one.

Are you talking about the bit on the roof?

That sounds a bit wierd, but can understand as a few scrapyard ones have fallen to bits when attacking them with plyers.

I went to a store and got a brand new whip + base for some 35 zlotys (10 euros). It is meant for Cinq/Sei but looks exactly the same as mine.

Yep. My green one had the hinge go slack and poor reception.

Problem solved!

I did not replace the whole aerial - I simply replaced the whip!

The SC one I bought at Mediamarkt is identical (well, close to identical) to the original. Plastic parts are different, actually.

Thus I simply disassembled the new piece, threw away the sorry leftovers of an old whip and bolted a new whip in place.

Tada - it works and looks just the same!
