Car is Marea Weekend 115ELX, W plate (2000?)

Problem is that the car drifts, it feels as if you are driving in a strong side wind, you have to really keep your wits about you and keep correcting the steering, it's quite frightening, the car really does swerve noticably above 60mph.

Tyres are new, they are Firestone Firehawks.

I think the problem started when we had these fitted (about 4 weeks ago), my wife who drives the car more than me, thinks it was doing this before the Firestones were fitted.

Any ideas?

I agree this is the most likely cause: my 130 JTD weaved terribly in corners until I replaced the wishbones [only found out when it failed the MOT because of them] I got mine from www.shop4parts.co.uk, they are currently £108 delivered for the pair. Be warned they are pigs to fit because they need to sit horizontally so you can get the bolts in, but the struts and hubs get in the way. I found I could do it by separating the hub from the strut and pushing them to either side. Watch out for the hub coming off the driveshaft though!

I got mine for £35 each for a QH part from a local motor factor.

Easiest way to fit them is to remove the top bolt out of 2 on the strut-to-hub carrier, and unfasten the lower. Loosen or remove the 3 bolts holding the strut to the chassis. This should give you enough play to get the bolts in. Expect to put a fair few quid in the swear jar. You'll need a cold chisel to open the hub-carrier to outer ball joint clamp.

I won't be doing it myself but just wanted a diagnosis before I took it to a local friendly garage.

Thanks all
